I love "Wizards of Waverly Place" but this has got to be Season 3's worst episode ever. I even think this episode is slightly more worse than "Franken-girl". I've only watched this episode once and that was the day it premiered on Disney Channel. This episode was bad so I rarely remember anything. The one thing I do remember was this episode annoying the living hell out of me. Like it wouldn't even stop and it was nothing but non-stop annoying stuff. Also, why was Max absent in this episode? he actually would have probably saved this episode but he had to be absent in a very bad episode like this. I laughed a few times but I think I remember those laughs only coming from Zeke though. The different universe where Alex goes through the mirror and she is in a universe where everyone is careless and does these annoying things was so incredibly annoying. Teresa also playing the guitar and singing "Alex is always right, Alex is always right" (yes, I actually remembered that part) and she would keep playing the guitar. I also hated how Justin and Teresa were actually wanting Alex to stay in the mirror. I can't believe them especially Teresa. Teresa is Alex's mother and she should want Alex back home no matter how much trouble Alex caused. The only person who actually cared was Harper. Justin and Teresa just got me furious for being like that. Overall, I love "Wizards of Waverly Place" but this is one of the episodes that I never want to see again and I'm glad I only watched it once because I probably wouldn't survive watching this episode twice. 3/10moreless

The latest episode of Wizards of Waverly Place has one trait that is not always common to this show: it was funny. This was a very enjoyable episode of the show as not only was it funny, but it had a feel good moment with the family being reunited again.

Selena Gomez is really starting to get old, but she still gives it her all in this kid's show, so she is not letting fame get to her head.

But the performance of the night went to Maria Canals Barrera as Theresa Russo. She was good in the mirror world and the regular world. She often flies under the radar so I had to point how good she was tonight.

Good episode of Wizards. Sad that the season is almost over.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Alex goes into the mirror and everything is backwards, except her. However, if you look at her carefully, you'll notice that the rips on her jeans are reversed. The horizontal rip goes from the right leg to the left leg, and vice versa for the vertical rip. This is because of an error in how the filmmakers achieved the backwards effect. For the mirror world, Selena Gomez wore a shirt with backwards writing on it, and wore her earrings and bracelets on the opposite hands. Then the film was flipped so she'd appear to be correct and everything else would be backwards. But the costumer designer forgot to make a pair of jeans with reversed rips in them, so when the film was flipped, so were the rips.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Theresa: Uh, not so fast! You're not going anywhere, let alone Europe! Listen, you are still grounded for taking money from the cash register to buy that vending machine. And you are extra grounded for sneaking out when you knew that you were grounded and you are extra bonus grounded for sneaking out into a magical alternate universe!
Alex: ...You're right, Mom, I'm sorry. That was a dumb idea.
Theresa: Well, that's be...wait a minute. What part of it was a dumb idea?
      Alex: All of it?
      Theresa: Wow. That was easy.

    • Alex: Wait, hold on.
(Mirror Justin, Theresa and Harper hold on to something)
      Mirror Harper: Holding on!

    • Theresa: So you fix a magic mirror the same way you fix a regular mirror? Magic is lame.

    • (Alex hides herself under a sheet)
Zeke: Whew, thought she'd never leave. Let's talk bad about her. She is so lazy!
(Alex comes out from under the sheet)
Zeke: Oh, she is still here. (runs away)

  • NOTES (5)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • The fact that Alex passes through a mirror and to an alternate universe may have a connection to the episode "There But for the Grace of God" from the sci fi show Stargate SG-1 where the character Dr. Daniel Jackson (portrayed by Micheal Shanks) touches a mirror on another planet that sends him to an alternate universe.

    • Alex walks through a magical mirror that takes her to a reflected version of her home where everything is opposite is based on the book Alice Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carrol, which is the sequel to Alice in Wonderland.

    • This episode's plot may be a reference to the movie and book Coraline by Neil Gaiman, which is about a girl who is sick of her life, and so enters a trapdoor in her house which leads to a parallel world where everything is perfect. But, just as in the episode, things turn bad fast.
