  • Nothing too special

    5.0
Another episode which was okay for me. The acting, the plot, the jokes were all okay. Nothing too new here. I didn't like Alex's part in this episode at all. We're just over 20 episodes into this series and I'm sick of her inappropriate use of magic. I can't take it anymore!

But, I did like Max and Jerry's part here. It wasn't much, but it seemed so much more normal. The final scene was funny, but Alex was a big NO NO here.moreless
  • Alex brings historical masterpiece to life at the art museum to complete her Art History assignment

Alex wants an easier way to complete her Art History assignment, so she brings historical masterpieces to life to help her complete her worksheet. Meanwhile, Jerry and Max use a spell to play football in the house, which turns out badly. I thought that this was a perfect episode of "Wizards of Waverly Place". This is one of the most enjoyable and funniest episodes of Season 1 in my opinion. I really found the storyline to be very fun and there was a lot of humor in this episode that made me laugh. The Scream masterpiece cracked me up though and the other historical masterpieces were funny as well. One of the highlights of the episode was definitely when Justin said "Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo" and then Alex says "DiCaprio" and Justin responds "No, Da Vinci". Silly and cute Alex haha. Selena even in her earlier seasons on this show is still cute, sweet, and funny and that's I really like about her. The episode was just all-around funny and creative and a lot of humor. It's also nice how Mona Lisa got to be back in the painting all happy. If you're looking for an enjoyable episode, I say that this would be the episode just for you. Overall, a perfect episode of "Wizards of Waverly Place" and it's one of Season 1's best in my opinion. 10/10moreless
  • The season goes out with a BANG! with this classic episode

    8.0
Alex is failing art (huh? I thought you could NEVER fail art!) So, Justin volenteers to chaparone. But, the problem is, Alex and Harper are planning to sell... grabage, but, none the less, Alex dosen't want to be stuck. So, she takes 4 paintings and tries to bend their reality. After this, Mona Lisa dosen't wanna go away, and Harper helps her with some neckalces. Don't worry, she dosen't know.

Even in this episode, Max and Jerry wanna play football. But, Theresa really dosen't want any foolery. Max then puts on the spell called Go though, mo though, and ... uh oh! That football went into the pot, and Theresa is now throughful! But, only for a short while.

I kinda LOVE this episode, especially the end.

Theresa: I HATE living with Wizards!!!moreless
  • I just watched this episode and I kind of hated it! Bad acting, bad writing, just bad. See below for my full review!!!

Ok, I don't like Selena Gomez at all. Her acting is weak. I never believe the things she says. But the worst part of this episode was the writing. I've seen this story like 10 times before! Can't the writers come up with something new?? I think the only reason anyone watches this show is 'cause everyone's so sick of Hannah Montana. Only 6 year old girls watch Hana anymore. Even my sister who's 8 says it's too dumb to watch (and she is not so smart herself). Don't waste your time watching Wizards of Ripped Off From Harry Potter. Bye.moreless

The idea of Alex Russo bringing the Mona Lisa to life (they obviously did not go along with the theory that it was the painter in drag, so as to not confuse kids) and The Scream to life seems pretty funny, but this episode was kind of a dud. Alex just was not that funny and her dislike for schoolwork, which is usually hilarious, just came off as annoying here tonight.

The other storyline with Henry and Max using spells in the house was not very good either.

Wizards of Waverly Place is a good show, but you can skip this episode.moreless

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Max notes that, "if you eat the spell, you get the spell," a fact that could have been inferred in "Disenchanted Evening" when TJ mentions that the spell he had put on his parents (which is then put on Jerry and Theresa) is in the kugel.

    • If Theresa, Jerry and Max ate the spell shouldn't Max's hand have gone through the lamp instead of his hand hitting the lamp?

    • The four paintings Alex brought to life were: The Scream by Edvard Munche, Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh After He Cut His Ear by Vincent van Gogh, and Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough.

    • We learned that when humans eat something that contains or is affected with "Go through, mo through", they also have the ability to pass through solid objects.

    • Selena Gomez as Alex mentions she was born in 1992 in the episode. Selena was born in 1992, as well.

    • Spell Featured: "Go Through, Mo Through", "Faces of Figures, Step out of your Pictures" & "Pictures of faces return to your places" (Place + year).

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Jerry: Alex, what do we say about taken people out of pictures?
Alex: We say..."Yay! Hooray! Alex is so fun and creative."

    • Alex: (After she makes all of the picture come out of their paintings) All right, let's skip the introductions, 'cuz I gotta fill out this stupid work sheet. So, which one of you is the dutch boy wearing a blue costume?
Blue Boy: That would be me!
Alex: And the name of your painting is?
      Blue Boy: (Obviously) Blue Boy?
Alex: This is gonna be easy!

    • Theresa: Hey guys, watch this! (runs into door)
Max: Well I guess we know how long the spell lasts.
Theresa: I HATE LIVING WITH WIZARDS!

    • Justin: You gotta figure this out yourself.
Alex: Justin, that could take all night.
Justin: It couldn't take that long, cause the security guard only gave me five minutes to find my sweater.
Van Gogh: Everyone, spread out. We've got to find Justin's Sweater!

    • The Scream: (suddenly) AHHHHHHHH!
Alex: Why did you do that?!
      Van Gogh: He's The Scream.
Alex: Well, I have a new name for you. It's Quiet Guy, okay?

    • Alex: Pictures of Faces return to your-Wait a minute...Are those shoes too small?
Scream: (takes off shoes, picks them up, then drops them, and lets out a sigh of relief) Ahhhhh.......
Alex: I know, I hate shows that make me wanna scream...(proceeds to chant the incantation)

    • Theresa: How many times did I say no throwing the ball in the house, guys?
Max: How many lamps have we broken?
      Theresa: Three!
      Max: At least three times.

    • Jerry: (After Max throws football to him and hits the lamp)
What are you gonna tell your mother?
Max: Um, I know how to deal with this. We'll mess up a bunch of other stuff and tell her we were robbed!

    • (Alex is sweeping something when a guy comes from the store throwing something down)
Alex: Hey! Happy-go-trashy! Get back here! Can't you see I'm sweeping here? Look, what would your mama say if she saw you doing this?
      Guy: Mama would be mad.
