  • John O' Hurley guest stars in this episode as Captain Jim Bob Sherwood

This is definitely one of Season 3's best episodes in my opinion. I kinda didn't like Jerry and Teresa in this episode... they were being a little irritating but I can let that slide though since they don't have a lot of screen time. If they did have a lot of screen time then my score would have probably been a 9 or 9.5 but thank goodness I still give this episode a 10. Anyways, John O' Hurley makes a fantastic guest star and he was perfect as the role of Captain Jim Bob Sherwood. Whenever John O' Hurley guest stars in a show, he always knows how to keep things fresh and well-paced with such genius performance. His performance was definitely impressing me in this episode. Justin wanting to write the issues for Captain Jim Sherwood was very good. Alex and her illustrations was absolutely hilarious especially when she is changing things around was saying things about the bear eating a taco. Oh Alex, you're so funny and pretty. Justin and Alex pretending to be the villains in order for Captain Jim Bob Sherwood to get back the comic book was very funny as well. Everything in this episode was just fantastic and very funny with an original and genius performance by John O' Hurley. Overall, an excellent "Wizards of Waverly Place" episode with an excellent guest star. 10/10moreless

John O'Hurley, one of the great character actors, of Seinfeld, Dancing with the Stars and Family Feud fame, guest starred here in a very funny episode of Wizards of Waverly Place. The plot focused primarily on Justin (or should I say Justine?) and Alex, and let's be honest, their brother-sister rivalry is the best part of this show. O'Hurley appeared as a real-life version of the comic book character Captain Jim Bob Sherwood, and was very funny in the process. I liked the breaking the fourth wall line of him not having any creative pull and just showing up and saying what they tell him to.

There's a reason this show can get big stars to appear, and it is not just because their kids like the show. This is a very funny comedy that anyone can enjoy.moreless

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Justin: Guys! Guys, is the mail here yet?
Theresa: Ah, Justin. You have been so anxious about the mail all week, honey. It's just a dollar twenty-five rebate on maple syrup. Give him $2.50 to get him to stop talking about it, Jerry.
Jerry: I don't carry that kind of cash! (holds up a half of a banana) How 'bout half a banana?

    • (reading the review for their comic book)
Alex: ...The Russo Sisters, Alex and Justine have taken over the reins with flair!
Justin: What?! Did you just say Justine?
Alex: (laughing) Wow, sometimes I don't do anything and I still win.
Justin: I'm going to write a strongly-worded letter to the reviewer!
Alex: Yeah, good luck with that, sis.

    • Alex: (to Justin) There's always an evil queen. Sometimes she's the head cheerleader, sometimes she's the fairy tale stepmother, and sometimes she's your sister.

    • Alex: He just said he doesn't care what we write. So he won't mind beating up a bear and then rewarding himself with a lovely, crunchy taco!
Captain Jim Bob Sherwood: A taco... How exotic.

    • Max: I'm going to make a popularity smell. First I'm going to need some deodorant. Popular kids tend to wear deodorant.

    • Justin: Not all books have pictures!
Alex: Ha! Yes they do, because if they didn't, they wouldn't be books, they would be homework!

    • Alex: Harper, you know I could have just flashed you into that costume.
Harper: No thanks. Whenever you do that, I feel like there's a brief second when I'm naked.

    • Jerry: Look, before you guys start working together, I want to make one thing perfectly clear. Do not come to your mother and me with your problems.
Theresa: That's right. It's not that we don't care, it's just that this seems more like a brother and sister kind of problem, not a there's a blackhole in the Sub Station, sucking in the universe kind of problem!
Alex: When are you going to let that one go?
Theresa: When someone finds my storage box full of my Christmas sweaters!
Alex: I don't think it was the blackhole that got rid of those.
Jerry: (nods nervously) No, it was the blackhole!

    • Justin: If they will allow me the honor to be the new writer for the Captain Jim Bob Sherwood comics, I'll be a hero to kids everywhere...and myself!
Alex: Mm mm. Don't you get kids involved in your pathetic life.

    • Jerry: Well I guess you're all winners.
Theresa: Jerry, I don't think you understand. They have to work together.
Jerry: Oh my gosh. We're all losers!
