  • Definitely funny, better than most of WOWP

    7.5
The issue with WOWP is that they try to make their storylines "HarryPotter"ish. That is, they try to make it extremely highly technical. This storyline works brilliantly but wasn't executed well enough.

As usual, Alex was a complete idiot to drink both halves of a love potion. The funniest moments in this episode were from when Mr Laritate came into the Russos' house. It became funny.

This episode had much laughs and I'm not being biased in any sort of way. The best of Season 1.moreless
  • It was okay!

    8.0
Alex wants to go out with her friend, Brad, who happens to be the very guy that Justin hates. He and Justin are competing to go to a special smart people place. Jerry teaches Alex and Justin about potions. Max learns about levitation. Alex tries to get Brad to drink the love potion, but she ends up drinking the other half and falls in love with herself. Also, everytime she brags about herself, her head gets bigger, but when she puts herself down, her head gets smaller. Max must wear a hat that keeps his powers under control. Brad is a suck-up and almost goes on the trip instead of Justin. Alex realizes that Brad isn't a nice guy.

This episode was okay. It was weird with the head size and the hat, but it was decent! I give it an 8.0 out of 10!moreless
  • good episode

    9.4
Potion Commotion is a great episode of Wizards of Waverly Place. This episode was pretty funny. Alex's head keeps growing in this episode lol. Everytime she brags about herself her head grows. But, when ever she insults her self her head shrinks. lol. Max gets his powers in this episode too. Lmao, he had to wear a silly hat all over! Also, Justin has some sort of competition thingy. He's competing with some dude named Brad for some trip to some summit. Whatever Max craves, the loft goes. They end up in Chinatown and Hawaii lol. Potion Commotion was a great episode.moreless
  • Alex with riiely + Justin's cruise ship + Max's full powers= hilarity!

    7.2
This is kinda cool, as it take all 3 russo kids!

Alex; she wants Riely and here to be aon official couple, for some reason. She then takes a potion in which she falls in love with herself!

Justin; He's trying to tell Mr. Larritate that he is able to go to that cruise to Mt. rushmore or something. But, Riley is taking this postion, too!

Max; Jelouse his siblings got magical powers, Max gets magic too, and he has to wear a hidious hat!

On the night Mr. larrytate comes to visit, Alex turns into a big head, and must wear Max's magic hat. But, Max sents the family into China and Hawaii whic, for some reason, makes Justin the winner. I love this episode; nuff said.moreless
  • Potion Commotion

    6.0
"Potion Commotion" is over the top, it is a bit cartoonish at times, but you will definitely laugh at this episode of Wizards of Waverly Place and you will definitely leave satisfied. Justin gets what he wants, Alex kind of gets what she wants, and the viewers are treated to 22 minutes of Disney's finest comedy.

This will most likely not be the smartest half hour of television you will watch all year, but you would be hard pressed to not like this installment.

Again, the episodes that specifically deal with the powers and not just random teen problems are almost always good; this one is no exception.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • When Jerry asks to talk to Justin, Alex and Max about the magic issue when Laritate was there, he had the door perfectly open. The goof here is that both Laritate and Brad could've easily seen that outside was all strange.

    • When Mr Laritate came over and Alex's head turned big, she should've slowly insulted herself instead of putting the hat on. Then, she should've just walked away into the lair for a while to control herself instead of her getting the hat on and causing Max's powers to go crazy

    • Goof: In the episode, Max's powers move the Russo house to China and then to Hawaii, but when Brad leaves they're back in New York, how did it change without someone changing it back?

Solution: Alex put the hat back on Max's head, Max's powers were stopped and everything returned to normal, including the location as Max no longer had the power to change and keep the locations.

    • Spells Used: Levitatus Liquidatus

    • When Alex takes off the hat for the final time why is her head normal sized?

  • QUOTES (11)

    • Jerry: (to Alex and Justin) Ok, what are these?
      (Jerry displays random emotions)
Justin: (as if playing Charades) It's a race. Raiders of the Lost Ark!
Jerry: No, I'm showing different emotions! Today's lesson is all about potions that make you show emotions. Emotion Potions. Not potions that make you move quicker or slower. Those are Motion Potions. (chuckles) See what I did there?
Alex: Yeah, that was a crime of rhyme. Wow, that was lame and I'm ashamed.

    • Brad: (while helping Theresa with a heavy box) Now what kind of world would let someone as delicate and petite as you carry such a heavy box?
      Theresa: (deadpan) My world.

    • (Max sneezes, then levitates)
Max: All right, who's doing this, huh?
      Everyone: Not me. Nope.
      Max: It's me?
Jerry: It's all you. Hey, your full powers are here!
Alex: Now you're in the competition with us!
Justin: So what? I'm still gonna win and be the one that keeps his powers!
Max: Nuh-uh! I'm gonna win this competition! I'm taking you both down! Now how do I get down?

    • Justin: So yeah, I gotta work on that essay pronto if I wanna get into the World Summit at the U.N.
Alex: You know, after you said essay, all I heard was blah, blah-blah, blah-blah.

    • Alex: Brad, you didn't come here for me. You came here for you. I wanted us to be more than friends, but you're not even a friend. I think we should break up.
Brad: Break up? We were never going out.
Alex: Well, in my mind we were. But now that's all over. How does it feel to be theoretically dumped?

    • Justin: (after ending up in Hawaii) Wow, whatever Max craves, that's where the loft moves.
      Jerry: He does love pineapple.

    • Justin: Are we on the same side?
Alex: It's a little creepy, but I think we are.

    • Jerry: (to Max) Keep working on lesson number 5. (to Justin and Alex) Now you two, we're on lesson number 372.
(Justin and Alex look at Max and laugh)

    • Jerry: Why is your head getting bigger?
Alex: It's not. Maybe you're just standing too close.
      Jerry: Nice try.

    • Alex: Oh my gosh, someone sent me flowers. I wonder who it could be... Me!

    • Justin: We can't do that, we're not supposed to use magic unsupervised.
Alex: You'll supervise me, I'll supervise you, how is that unsupervised?
Justin: (pauses) It'll have to do for now.

  • NOTES (5)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Justin (the older brother) has a teacher named Mr. Laritate. This is a reference to Darren's boss Larry Tate on the 1964 television series Bewitched, another show about someone with magic powers (Darren's witch wife Samantha) who had to hide those powers from the public.
