  • Pretty funny, but still not awesome

This episode had some moments and some frustrations. Firstly, I know this is part of the storyline but I found Alex extremely annoying at the start of this episode. I find her to be an extremely bad role model for kids, considering this is Disney. What I did like about this episode was the fact that Magdalena appeared for the only time. She was pretty funny.

I did like the ending quite a bit. It was what you'd call sweet. There were some funny moments, some great acting but this episode failed to live up to its potentialmoreless
  • a GREAT episode of wizards

a GREAT episode of Wizards. Max was hillarious in this episode like always. the reason why this episode wasn't a 10 was because of the beginnig when ALex was disrecpting her mom. And the end was pretty lame and not funny. i kind of liked Alex in this episode not at the beginning, but when he swaped bodies with Tersea just so she could have a quinceanera was kind of sweet. The grandma was hillarious especailly towards the end when she starts reading a 30 page book about the birth of Teresa with Alex in her body and they have to get out before sunset and it's right before sunset when she reads it. OH MY GOSH! It's a really awesome even adults could get a laugh out of this. a good episode of Wizards. Wizards of waverly place! you have to watch this episode. i promise you you'll at least laugh once.moreless
  • A good Alex is underway...

    9.4
Alex's 15th brithday is coming up, and Theresa wants a little Quincenera for her daughter. Alex and Jerry has a bad intention, as they really don't want that. Jerry, becuas ehe didn't give permission to make anyone a woman. And Alex, because it was too girly for her. Then, Madnolia tells Alex about how Theresa couldn't get one herself. So, Alex, with a gold heart, changes hers and Theresa's body, and tries to hide it from Madnolia.

Meanwhile, Madnolia tries teaching max and Justin some dancing, but, the boys then turns into their dancing teachers.

Overally, it's moraly a tearjerker to my extanct. Don't cry, it's a good episode. But, try not crying in this episode. Literaly, it's good.moreless
  • AWESOME!

    9.5
i love this kinda episode where they switch and find out about each others life. favourite part had to be when Max and Justin switched bodies with the salsa (no relationship with chips) dancers. Max was like 'Im hot' with his hand on his hips.

i liked the dance item. it was really good and finally that little effect was good. it was kinda touching when Alex started crying. overall, this is one of the best WOWP episode made besides that movie episode. really awesome and for the whole family to see. i especially recommend teenage girls.

the creds was kinda funny too. Little Max XDmoreless

The grandmother should become a recurring character or possibly even join the cast full-time as she was both fresh and funny at the same time, something Wizards of Waverly Place has not been during its first season on television.

This was a decent episode that focused on the age old Latin tradition of quinceanera. Not something that most Americans watching are probably familiar with, but if it educated people at the same time that it had them laughing, then I guess that is is a win-win.

Enjoyable episode, but I am still waiting for the one where I start quoting lines after seeing it. That will show me this show truly made it.moreless

Body Switching Incantation:(Two peoples names) Copium Cuporum Meumcuporum Suanuvamavee.
Used by: Alex: Alex uses this spell on her and her mom to avoid her quinceanera and to give her mother the quinceanera she never had. Justin: Justin uses this spell to switch bodies with Richard, the dance instructor, so he wouldn't make a fool of himself while dancing with Alex.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Richard in Justin's body: (with a Latino accent) If you were 15 years older, I would dance with you, mi amor.
Theresa in Alex's body: Ok, weird.

    • (During the father/daughter dance)
Jerry: You did all this for your mother, and look how happy you made her.
Alex: I'm glad we did this too, dad.
Jerry: You really are turning into a wonderful woman, just like her. I am so proud of you, honey.
Alex: Even when I break the rules and use magic behind your back?
      Jerry: Even then.

    • Magdalena: Jerry, just how I left you a year ago, eating.
Jerry: (unfazed) Hi, Magdalena. And for your information, I lost 5 pounds.
Magdalena: Pull up your shirt. I think I found them.

    • Jerry Oh, honey, are you crying?
Alex: Yeah, but why aren't you? You've been crying for days.
Jerry: Well, I think I'm all cried out.
Alex: Really? What if I told you how much this quinceañera cost?
Jerry: (starting to cry) Oh no. Here it comes!

    • Theresa: (about the quinceanera) Alex, you can't cancel! A lot of hard work has gone into this party.
Alex: It's my party, and I'll cancel if I want to.
Theresa: It's not just your party, it's our party!
Alex: Oh, really? Well, it seems like it's mostly just about you!

    • Alex: (to Magdalena about Theresa and the quinceanera) It's just not me. I really don't want one. (looks into the mirror) But that doesn't mean she can't have one.
Magdalena: Don't be silly. Your mother can't have a quinceanera. She'd have to be a 15-year-old girl.
Alex: Stranger things have happened. (Magdalena looks at her) No, seriously, they have.

    • (Alex spots Harper and Theresa at the counter with a lot of decorations)
Alex: What are you guys doing?
      Theresa: Planning your quinceanera.
Alex: Oh my gosh, am I sick? What's a quinceamono?

    • (about getting through the quinceanera as each other)
Theresa in Alex's body: You really think we can pull this off?
Alex in Theresa's body: Trust me, it would not be the first time I got away with magic.
(Theresa gives Alex a suspicious look)
Alex in Theresa's body: I mean, it would totally be the first time.

    • Magdalena: If I see so much as a scratch on that bike, someone's gonna eat spokes!

    • Magdelena: If I can make salsa, I can do the salsa. You know the old saying, "You dance what you eat."
Justin: Grandma, umm... it's you are what you eat.
Magdelena: Do you know how to dance?
      Justin: No.
      Magdelena: Then shut up.

    • Justin: (During the Quinceanera) Grandma, don't you think you should teach us how to dance now?
Max: We've been telling mom we've been going to lessons.
Magdelena: Don't worry! There's plenty of time for dance lessons.
      Max: When?
      Justin: The quinceanera is now!
Magdelena: Oh! Woah! Time must have gotten away from me. I need to get Alex a present. Max, you get me some scotch tape, and Justin, find me some wrapping paper. (Walks up to woman) Excuse me ma'am. That necklace doesn't go with your outfit. How 'bout I buy it off you?

    • (after switching bodies with the dance instructors)
      Justin: Where are we?
Max: I have no idea but I'm going to do what I always do to get out of these situations...dance!

    • Theresa: (About Alex's Quinceanera) But there are rituals symbolizing you're becoming a woman that you go through with your dad!
Jerry: What?! I didn't give anyone permission to become a woman!

    • Alex: These high heels are lame!

    • Theresa: (in Alex's body) Why am I looking at myself?
Alex: (in Theresa's body) Well, you may be looking at yourself on the outside, but it's me on the inside.Hi, Mom.
Theresa: (in Alex's body)You're, you're in my body?
Alex: (in Theresa's body)Yep. And you're in my body.
Theresa: (in Alex's body)You are grounded as soon as you get back in this body because I am not grounding myself.

  • NOTES (3)

    • First appearance of Belita Moreno as Alex, Justin, and Max's grandmother, Magdelena.

    • This episode is part of Disney Channel's Seriously Switched Up Sunday. The other things Disney Channel featured were a new episode of Phineas and Ferb and a showing of Freaky Friday.

    • Original International Airdates:
United Kingdom: July 4, 2008 on Disney Channel
Latin America: July 11, 2008 on Disney Channel

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Alex's grandma calls Harper "Harpo," which is Oprah Winfrey's name backwards and the name of her production studio Harpo, Inc.

Harpo is also the name of one of the Marx Brothers, a group of vaudeville entertainers/comedians who appeared on stage and in several movies in the 1920s through the 1950s. By calling Harper this, Magdalena could have been insinuating that she thinks Harper is a goofball or that she doesn't take her seriously.

    • The plot of this episode is very similar to the film Freaky Friday. A movie starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan where a mother and daughter switch bodies.
