  • A well made season premiere

This wasn't the greatest of episodes but it was a well created episode and I enjoyed watching it. Even on the 5 or 6 repeat viewings of this episode. I have never really gotten bored so I can say its a good episode.

I liked some of the jokes very much but to me the thing I disliked most about this episode was the character Alex. Sure, she's normally portrayed as selfish, but there was something in this episode that made me absolutely hate her at times.

Apart from that, all WOWP fans must see thismoreless
  • It was fun and enjoyable.

I liked this episode a lot. The whole grape accesories with Harper was just funny. Alex trying to not say the answers was also funny. The Greaser look on the guy that Alex liked which I forgot whatever his name was gave him an edge and coolness that could be irritating but when he talked to Alex she was smart in the way she responded to him and I like people like that. P.S. Selena was looking excptionally pretty in this episode. Also their mom trying to teach them and giving up in like 5 seconds was really funny. The whole Fountain Water being really good I understood because sometimes they can taste metallic or simply disgusting. In general it was a fairly good episode.moreless
  • A good way to open a series.

I kinda forgot the Max storyline. Sorry.

But, anyways, Alex wants to impress some guy named Dean. So, after learnging there are some pants making you even smarter (how convinent), Alex wears them and starts being a smart-aleckly little girl on a quiz show.

But, with impressing Dean, Harper is pretty harsh, being annoyed by her best friend. Alex then gets a bit concerned and, she takes off the pants... only to reveal that her skin is gone! Cue the bad effects with skelitor! In the end, Harper gets the big trophy. This episode is good to open the 2nd season pretty well. I really think this is a good episode.

    But the effects still sucks..moreless
  • Alex enters a competition where she was suppose to let Harper be like well known for being smart but she ruins it in the end.....

Pretty interesting episode. In this episode, Alex enters a Quiz bowl or something like that so that she can let Harper shine but she then wanted to win so she put on some Smarty Pants so that she would be like super smart but then it has some REALLY bad effects when you put it on too long and Alex has Skeleton legs!!! That was like whoa, what happened Alex? Didn't eat enough? Ha ha, though I felt sorry for Justen who wanted to win and Harper who felt annoyed by Alex, I mean come on they even are like best friends and all. Meanwhile, Max tries to sell fountain water to everyone but come on! That is so like not a good way to get money and I didn't quite understand what happened for this part. Though it was interesting to know that Jerry Russo, their father didn't appear in this episode and how long did their mum last as a wizard teacher? A few seconds..........Ha ha!

    Final rating: 7.8 to 8.0

  • 201

The second season premiere of Wizards of Waverly Place and a good episode that it was. It featured some great Alex Russo moments as she struggled with being a good friend and wanting to upstage brother Justin, and even Theresa had some laughs, in the brief time she was on screen. Max was a good character when he was younger, but when he got older he just got annoying, kind of like Jake Harper on Two and a Half Men.

I laughed a lot and this show is just good old fashioned fun. Feels like an updated The Brady Bunch, and that is nothing but a compliment.moreless

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Max: You buy bottled water, and there's a faucet right over there.
Theresa: Well because bottled water is cleaner, and its portable. You can take it somewhere and drink it whenever you want.
Max: Oh, sort of like those little puppies that you can fit in your purse?
      Theresa: No, nothing like that.
Max: But come on. They're pretty cute...

    • (after putting Justin to sleep)
Alex: Okay, lesson is over. Come on Max.
Max: I think I'm going to stay and draw on his face.
      Alex: Okay, cool.

    • Justin: I'm telling Mr. Laritate
Alex: Wait. Wait. What're you gonna tell him? You're gonna tell him that I have magic pants?
Justin: Yes I am. (walks away and then comes back) No I'm not.
      Alex: No you can't

    • Mr. Laritate: (Alex is getting all the answers right at the Quiz Bowl) You can't see through these cards, can you Russo?

    • Justin: (about the Smarty Pants) They give you superior knowledge on anything and everything there is to know. I'd put them on, but I'm already smarter than them.
Alex: Ooh, you're smarter than pants. Good for you!

    • Alex: Whatcha doin'?
Dean: (setting up the wires) What's it look like I'm doin'? I'm making a pizza.
Alex: Watch it, I own sarcasm and didn't give you permission to use it.
      Dean: (laughs) Cute.
      Alex: Get used to it.

    • Theresa: Okay, I'm in the Wizard Lair...or as I like to call it "The Garage Sale That Never Happened".

    • Alex: Does that card tell you not to answer the phone "Yello?"!

    • Harper:(About not having a third member for the Quiz Bowl) I wish you were smart, then you could fill in for Nellie.
Alex: I am smart! I'm street smart!
      Harper: But not book smart.
Alex: I am to book smart! Sure I don't read books, but I hollow them out and hide things in them!

    • Justin: Ok, guys. While dad is away, mom is gonna give her first wizard lesson, so show some respect.
Alex: Oh, we respect her, it's you we don't respect!

  • NOTES (6)

    • Character: Mr. Larritate

Larry Tate was a colleague of Darren Stephens on the TV show Bewitched which ran from 1964-1972.

    • When Alex quizzes the team to test the buzzers, she asks "What spider is found in boxes of exported fruit, especially bananas?" This is a possible reference to the end of the episode "Summer of Our Discontent" from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, when Cody tries to open a box of exported bananas with the aforementioned spider walking inside.
