  • This episode itself I enjoy more than Romeo and Juliet

I've read the play in school last year and absolutely hate the story even though I respect Shakespeare's work. This episode, in my opinion, worked really well and is one of the funnier episodes of the show

I found the chemistry between Justin and Juliet to work as well as the story and the conflict. I also loved Juliet's parents and how they attempt to be badasses.

This episode is really good and is one of my favoritesmoreless
  • ahhh.. people can pretty much make me watch anything as long as there are Vampires in it. =)

well, im guessing wizards of waverly place started after the foundation was set by Harry Potter. nice idea on the family contest for who keeps there Wizard powers. anyways, about this episode, ahh.. vampires. yey. four part series at that. its kinda weird that the vampire deli shop was 24 hours though. humans watch it by day and vampires by night maybe? hmm.. i loved it when Juliet had a dead face when she woke up but after drinking Blood, she looked like a normal human. hmm.. if i were to end this show right now, Alex and Max would lose their powers and Justin keeps his powers since his gf is not a mere mortal. hehe.moreless
  • A vampire hoagie shop feud with the Russo's place is in the background as Justin and Juliet do a Romeo and Juliet impersonation. Max does every other bad impersonation you could possibly imagine.moreless

In Disney's attempts to push the next franchise to replace Hanna Montana, Disney has really been going way out of their way.

I mean Hanna did a multi-episode one hour special and now here is the one-uppance as this is the first half of a 4 part series. Hanna did a movie and now a made for tv movie is coming for Wizards too. So, the question is how did they do?

This was a really good episode. I mean you can kind of see that they are really trying to pc this and hide the fact that Juliet was not the child of those two vampires by blood. She was turned. But, that's probably a little bit too risque for Disney to touch, but they are dabbling at it and I do appreciate it. There were some really cool vampire jokes in this one.

The Max/Alex B-story was pretty cute and annoying in an appropriate way too. God, brothers who repeat things can be annoying sometimes.

There were some fun genuine emotion moments between Alex and Justin.

I have and still have one major beef with not just this episode but most of the episodes in this series. Justin has the most magical ability of anyone on the show, and he uses it the least. It is annoying. They are so determined to have Alex one up him just because the actress that plays the role is a bigger star that they ignore the facts. If she uses magic on Justin all he has to do is reverse it again, but than Disney's wondergirl wouldn't win for once. And to me this is an ensemble show and the writers have to get over it. Justin is a very sympathetic character and when Alex is mean to him I don't think it gets over even as a comedy as much as the writers think. And when she's nice to him, it is really sweet. But, sorry about that sidetrack. Disney cashing in on the flavor of the month which is Twilight really delivered in this opening episode. I hope they keep it up in the next one too.moreless

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Jerry: (on the VanHeusens) They're vampires! They're handsomer, they're smarter, more cunning than we are! They're like shaved wolves...that can vote!

    • Juliet: Aw, Daddy, go back to dead.

    • Jerry: Where is everybody? This is the slowest dinner rush we have had yet!
Justin: The city must have taken down your "Last Sandwich for 40 miles" sign.

    • Max: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Jack Nicholson.
Alex: Oh I got one... All summer with no Max makes Alex a happy girl.(intensely) Alex Russo.

    • Juliet: Wanna hear about our special?
Justin: I think I'm looking at it. Oh, was that smooth?
Juliet: You kinda ruined it by talking about it. You're still cute, though.

    • Max: We've got a vampire war on our hands. Hasta la vista, Baby!

    • Juliet: 'Twas fate's dart that found my Justin.
Alucard: Oh. Remember, you're a teenager.
Juliet: It was, like, totally fate's dart that found Justin and stuff, you know?

    • Juliet: Justin. I told my parents.
      Justin: Wow. That was quick.
Juliet: Well, it didn't take long to say, "I like Justin" and for them to say, "What?!"

    • Juliet: Here. Take this.
Justin: What? This has someone's phone number on it.
Juliet: Yeah. It's that cute girl who works at the Late Nite Bite.
      Justin: Oh. I like her.

    • Alucard: Really Juliet, you're so dramatic!
Cindy: (sarcastically) I wonder where she gets that from.

    • Alex: Justin, you have got to get over your twenty-five minute girlfriend.
Justin: You know what I figured out about myself? I fall in love fast. But you know what's different about this time? When I'm not with her, like, my heart hurts.

    • Jerry: (to Justin) You're dating the competition? How could you do this to us? I might have expected this from Alex, but from you?
Alex: Wha-?! (laughs) Yeah, that's totally something I would do.

    • Justin: And that's the definition of the word "definition."
      (Juliet laughs)
Juliet: Wait. What would be the definition of the word "word"?
Justin: Where have you been all my life?

  • NOTES (3)

    • It is learned that some vampires can be given souls so that they can have feelings.

    • The running time of this episode was 38 minutes, making it longer than any other episode which is usually 23 minutes. In Disney Channel Middle East, a shorter version of this episode was created in which many scenes were cut out for appropriate time length. This includes Juliet getting ready for her date with Justin, Justin and Juliet walking through the graveyard, and Juliet complaining to her parents about not being allowed to see Justin.

    • Romeo and Juliet

Justin and Juliet's relationship in which they are separated by their two feuding families is an allusion to William Shakespeare's famous novel and play, Romeo and Juliet.

    • Ace Ventura Pet Detective

Max's first impersonation was the way Jim Carrey acted in the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective.

    • Max: One million dollars.

Max's line is a reference to Dr. Evil from the movie, Austin Powers International Man of Mystery.
