EDIT
More of Logan's past catches up to him when the X-Men are abducted by mysterious ninjas, and held prisoner until Logan agrees to engage the Silver Samurai in a fight to the death. Now that the Silver Samurai is vying for leadership in the Yakuza, he must wipe his past clean of all failure - and that means finally defeating Logan.moreless

  • Silver Samurai and Wolverine square off!

    8.0
This is the first of Wolverine's solo adventures that finally grabbed my interest. Taking a breather from Weapon X, this time Logan is off to Japan for a fight to the death against an old foe. It was neat to see the Silver Samurai and Yuriko, Logan's former love sort of modernized with the Yakuza backdrop. In past stories it was always old, rural Japan where these characters interacted. The combat is pretty good here, with the sword fights flashing and slashing with great animation. Rogue tags along, and get's to do some awesome work as well. But she dissappears at the end (when Logan is fighting for her life) without explanation. Also, the Yakuza were behaving more like ninja than samurai (big difference), which is wrong on 2 levels: Yakuza are the Japanese equivalent of gangsters. Why are they dressed like ninja?moreless
  • Silver Samurai wants to exact revenge upon Logan for disgracing him years ago. Logan teams up with Rogue to help save the X-men and discovers secrets of Logan's past.

If this episode is any indication of the direction of the show I doubt I will ever get enough of it. Seeing Logan's past hinted at, tying into aspects of storylines taken either directly from issues or cleverly re-invented has me dying for the next show!

    (Spoiler)------------------------------------------

Bringing Silver Samurai in and Logan's love interest, Mariko, as well as the ninja clan the Hand (as Yakuza) is brilliant! I am quite encouraged by how the writers are steering away from previous shows shallow character development and plot devices and going for excellent material such as this to showcase this new X-men!moreless
