Episode Summary

EDIT
Faced with the increasingly callous MRD crackdown on mutants, Angel has become a vigilante, helping hapless mutants escape capture. This causes severe friction between Angel and his father, Warren Sr. But when Angel finds out that Worthington Pharmaceuticals is developing a mutant "cure," it's the last straw. Seeing that he can't talk sense into his son, Warren Sr. calls the MRD on him. Unfortunately, during the capture, Angel is badly injured, and his wings are broken. Deprived of the use of his wings, Angel will do anything to fly again, even if it means turning to the malevolent Mister Sinister for help.moreless

  • Angel-centric? Bring it on! A popular X-Man story is modified for this series.

    9.0
In a weird way, there is better development of both Angel and the 'Cure' storyline than what we saw in X-Men 3. This tale fully elaborates on the broken Worthington relationship, as well as the govt plot moving forward.

After an accident with the MRD, and a decision from his father, Angel loses his wings! Enter: Sinister! Characterized a bit better than when we last saw him. Nathaniel Essex is darker, creepier, and almost Devilish. Mr. Sinister transforms Angel into Arch Angel, with new cold and metallic wings. Our fallen hero is now a villain! Another interesting dynamic is the relationship established with Angel and Storm. This was neat and fresh, and a key to the plot later in the story. Angel's dark transformation at the end of the story brings a tinge of tragedy as we see the heartbroken look on Storm's face. I personally prefer the Apocalypse motivation for an Archangel of Death, but this still works out pretty good.moreless
