Wombat

Show Summary

Wombat is a long-running children's program seen in Brisbane, Australia. The show is produced at BTQ channel 7 and is seen mostly on weekdays and weekend mornings. Geared towards younger viewers, the show features a number of educational skits that are presented in various segments. The most popular character on the show is Agro the puppet, who is played by radio and television personality Jamie Dunn. Regular reporters on the show included Eric Summons, Fiona MacDonald, Bob La Castra, Gary Hardgrave and identical twins Gayle and Gillian Blakeney. The show also featured a regular guest lineup of Laurel Edwards, Stacey Thompson, Kristine Davis and Glen Hanson. Although Agro was featured on a children's show, Dunn performed him during adult programming as crude, vulgar and subject to sexual innuendo. Agro's personality was highly edited for juvenile viewing. The show was voted on numerous occasions as the most popular children's program in Australia.
