  • Wonder Woman saves the day by stopping a man from controlling football players.

Easily the worst Wonder Woman episode. The acting was horrible; but who watched Wonder Woman for the acting, let alone the Los Angeles Rams trying to act.

Wonder Woman has to waste her time and energy to stop a bookie from fixing football games!

Surely the writers could've thought of something better!
  • Wonder Woman stops....an evil bookie??!!!

Before I get too far into this review, let me make one thing clear: I am a big fan of this series and have been since seeing it back in the 70's. With that, I'll say that, unequivocally, this was the worse episode of the entire series.

Let's start off with the premise: a scientist uses darts to control football players and make them throw games so he can win bets with the local bookies. Now, reread that sentence. Is there anyone out there who thinks this would happen? Wouldn't you think that he would use these darts to acquire money an easier way? Banks, jewelry stores and so on.....

Anyway, Wonder Woman breaks up a fight instigated by a couple of the bookie's goons using the special darts. Satisfied that the darts work, the bookie decides that the biggest threat to his operation is.........Diana Prince!!! At this point, most people watching would scratch their heads and mutter " This guy is aware that there's a super strong heroine who just stopped a major brawl by herself and he's worried about some government agent. What the...???!!! " Well, I'm one of of them.

The rest of the episode goes along fairly predictably culminating with Wonder Woman defeating the bookie by having him literally falling into her open arms. With clumsily done action scenes and a plot that really needs tweaking to be adequate, this is one episode most can skip when watching this series................

    The Deadly Sting

You'd think had you developed a device that allows you to control peoples actions you'd find a better way to use it than some dumb sports betting cheating. Also you'd think if Wonder Woman was after you you'd use this on her as it seems unlikely that she'd be able to deflect it. Another unremarkable episode and you rather cringe at the way the waitresses on the bus are leered over by the football players.

There's a Cold War going on but Football is "a religion" to many Americans so their top agent must investigate?

    I think not.

So much stock footage it's silly. Out of focus stadium shots with crystal clear close ups.

    I think not.

It's only saving grace is the fact that there is a bit of chemistry between Diana and Ron Ely who played Bill Michaels. He came close twice to picking Diana as WW. They were "twins" and then there was the "look" - WW had broken the scientist's window and Diana turned up. He figured it out...........almost.

Palm tree alert. Washington DC looks just like southern California.

I only get one thrill from this episode. A stunt that has the mastermind climbing up a ladder while WW "jumps" above him. As this was filmed in reverse (WW stunt double stands on a building edge and falls down - this is then reversed) and the climber looks authentic. Kudos to the stunt people.

Interesting to see Craig T. Nelson (Sam) able to do one facial expression.
  • Wonder Woman vs. Nasty Gamblers!

    7.0
It's not one of the most memorable episodes but it's interesting to see that it's used a close idea on the episode "Jinx" of Smallville, where there, also there is a character trying to manipulate the odds on football games to some personal benefit. Another cool factor is that Ron Ely is on the episode, so it's like to have Tarzan and Wonder Woman together.
