Barry and Garry decide to open a women's pub but the contractor they hire is not all she's cracked up to be. The plot of this episode is suspiciously similar to The Simpsons Springfield Monorail episode. But the Simpsons didn't have Germaine Greer singing Stand By Your Man.
On the premise that pubs which become restaurants make the most money Dodgy Phil has the idea to turn the pub into a restaurant this week. Julia Robbins, a wealthy US movie star, moves to the east end "the new Notting Hill". Barry and Garry devise a scheme to draw Robbins, and the ensuing customers, to their pub, by making it into a bookshop.
Barry and Garry accept a challenge by their rival landlord to a drinking competition. If they lose they will have to close. Can they win without breaking the Pearly Queensbury Rules and the Cockney Code?
