Episode Summary

Norm v. Joe Fisher v. Dave v. Kacie Bergeron v. Alice
"Hollywood" Dave Stann returns to the World Series of Blackjack. After finishing second in the first season, he hopes to once again make it to the finals. He faces tournament veteran Norm Sheridan (Northridge, CA), Kacie Bergeron (a CPA from Dallas, Texas), Joe Fisher (in human resources, from Lansing, Michigan) and the 2006 National 3-Card Poker Champion, Alice Walker (a hotel director from Houston, Texas.) Stann soon finds his dreams crashing as he receives a series of bad hands that leave him in the hole. As he busts out of the game, the other players get down to more serious play. As they make their moves, the Burger King Power Chip plays a key role in the final standings. One player makes a risky move that could put him in a great position for the final hand, or out of the game.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • The final hand in this episode was mainly a formality. Alice Walker had $95,000 and Norm Sheridan was left with only $6,250. All other players were out of the game. Therefore, Alice won by default. Norm, who received poor hands throughout most of the qualifier, nevertheless managed to finagle a spot in one of the two wild card rounds.

    • QUOTES (16)

      • Joe: There's the Burger King Power Chip. Says right on there "Have it your way." So I wanna --- I wanna make sure that happens. Can you do that for me?

      • Norm: Still waiting for a pat hand.
        Matt: Typical five for Norm.

      • Alice: Can I use my Power Chip?
Matt: And Alice is gonna use her Burger King Power Chip to have it her way with a bet of 17,500. She really wants that blackjack. So she'll replace the 7 and her soft 18 turns into a soft 17.

      • Norm: (with an 18) Think I oughta stand on that one?
        Joe: No. (both laugh)
Norm: Thought you might say that.

      • Alice: I'll take an ace, Jessica.
Norm: Come on, this time it's gonna work now.

      • Norm: I know they're ganging up on me.
Alice: (giggles) The women against the men.
Joe: Oh, she's made it a duel now, Norm.

      • Norm: Okay, you're all nice people here, so I know you're rooting for me to get the big blackjack.
        Alice: (giggles)
        Joe: Norm, you're absolutely right.
Matt: And Norm's in for a max bet.

      • Dave: (frustrated, on his last chance) I'm so incredibly good at this game.

      • Matt: "Hollywood" Dave is in jeopardy of going away early and missing a precious opportunity to plug his book, Hollywood Blackjack. We'll do it for him.

      • Norm: I went to tournament blackjack and you were in diapers.
        Dave: Oh, my God!
Norm: I know what you're thinkin' before you're thinkin'.
Dave: And I know you're thinkin' hate that's infecting my cards.

      • Dave: Is there some magic available in the audience. I need it.
Joe: How about a weapon of mass destruction?

      • Dave: Blackjack is a cruel lover and you need a hard heart.

      • Joe: You think she has it. Do you think she has a ten over there?
Dave: There's no such thing as thinking, guy. There's just hard and pure mathematics.

      • Alice: (in an interview segment) "Hollywood" Dave probably will not bother me. Hopefully I can eliminate him completely.

      • Dave: (in an interview segment) Well, very few players realize that in blackjack, psychology can play just as big a part as in poker.

      • Matt: Tonight marks the return of one of the most controversial players in World Series history --- "Hollywood" Dave Stann. The bad boy of blackjack is on a mission to return to the final table where he finished second in the first World Series, but first he's got to get past the likes of tourney specialist Norm Sheridan, who's won over 750 grand in tournament play and Alice Walker, the million dollar winner of the National 3-Card Poker Championship.
