World War II

Show Summary

World War II is a historical dramatic film developed by NBC that chronicles the major historical clash of the personalities and agendas of the three prominent world leaders of the Allied Forces during World War II. For four days in 1943 in the Soviet Embassy in Tehran, Iran, the Big Three (Soviet Union, United States, and the United Kingdom) met to strategize and plot the final strategies in the war against the Axis, which consisted of Nazi Germany and its allies. As the first meeting with all three present, each leader came with their own goal. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin (Michael Caine), who had never joined any of the other conferences due to a fear of flying, would only agree to any of the policies if the other two supported his reign and manipulations with the USSR’s neighboring countries such as Yugoslavia and Poland. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Bob Hoskins) wanted to maintain an upper hand to avoid concessions to Stalin. American president Franklin D. Roosevelt (John Lithgow) dealt with his wavering and weakening health while knowing that victory relied upon a united front. Inspired and developed by the transcripts, letters, and reports of the actual events during that conference, World War II is a film on the political powwow that ultimately led to an event known as D-Day.moreless
