Episode Summary

World's Greatest Mysteries Princess Diana: Car Wreck or Conspiracy?
Controversy. Conspiracy. Confusion. History is fraught with events -- from local to global -- that have never been satisfactorily explained. What caused the dinosaurs to perish? How were the Egyptian Pyramids built? What happened to the great Inca civilization? Was John Wilkes Booth part of a large, sinister plot? Was George Armstrong Custer sacrificed to save the Grant Administration? Is there anything happening in Roswell, New Mexico, that should be shared with American citizens? Who shot John F. Kennedy? These and dozens of other international mysteries are investigated, explored, unraveled and reported. Princess Diana: Car Wreck or Conspiracy? By official accounts, the event seems to be straightforward: On 31 August 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales, died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, France. Her companion, Dodi Fayed, and the driver of the car, Henri Paul, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Diana did not die in the car; she died while being transported to a hospital three miles away. What is not easily explained is how a three mile emergency trip in an ambulance through a major world capital could take over two hours. An eighteen month French judicial investigation concluded in 1999 that the car crash that killed Diana was caused by Paul, who lost control of the car at high speed while intoxicated and under the influence of antidepressants. What the inquiry failed to address was why numerous independent reports suggested that Diana was living in fear of the British MI6 secret service operatives. Is there something French, British, and American authorities have yet to reveal? This thought-provoking television program interviews a former MI6 agent, as well as the Fayed family, who tell why they believe Diana's death was murder. . .and who orchestrated it.moreless
