EDIT
World's Greatest Mysteries Roswell UFO: Weather Balloon Or Flying Disc?
AIRED:
Controversy. Conspiracy. Confusion. History is fraught with events -- from local to global -- that have never been satisfactorily explained. What caused the dinosaurs to perish? How were the Egyptian Pyramids built? What happened to the great Inca civilization? Was John Wilkes Booth part of a large, sinister plot? Was George Armstrong Custer sacrificed to save the Grant Administration? Is there anything happening in Roswell, New Mexico, that should be shared with American citizens? Who shot John F. Kennedy? These and dozens of other international mysteries are investigated, explored, unraveled and reported. Roswell UFO: Weather Balloon Or Flying Disc? On July 8, 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field--USAF, Roswell, New Mexico-- issued a press release stating that personnel from the field's 509th Bomb Group had recovered a crashed "flying disc" from a nearby ranch. Later that same day, the Commanding General of the Eighth Air Force recanted the earlier announcement, stating that, in fact, a weather balloon had been recovered by the airfield personnel. Debris from the crashed object was displayed at a subsequent press conference, apparently confirming the weather balloon version of the story. Although the event was quickly forgotten by the news agencies, the questions lingered: --Why would the U.S. military announce something of such global importance if there was any chance of error? And, didn't members of the Air Force recognize one of their own weather balloons when they saw it? This television program picks up the story reporters hastily dropped more than sixty years ago. The program looks into the possibility of whether bodies of alien beings were recovered, autopsied, and even filmed following the Roswell crash. It interviews Colonel Philip Corso, who worked in the Pentagon in military intelligence for 30 years and who provides explicit information about how the U.S. government came into possession of a crashed UFO. Could this be the most shocking government covemoreless
