  • Batista vs. Kane

    7.1
For one night only WWE's flagship show RAW aired on the Sci-Fi Network and they gave an outing reminiscent of the Attitude Era from 1999. A big main event between Kane and Batista was given, and while the bout was decent given the heated rivalry between the two it should have been more of intense. I wanted a wild, over the top brawl and instead got a weak American strongstyle match. Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella, two of the more entertaining midcard wrestlers on RAW, had a decent bout, but the ending was weak. I was not a fan of Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly, but very few women's matches are any good. Charlito vs. Primo Colon was okay but it had too many botched spots and the lame Carlito gimmick for Charlie Haas was ridiculous. I will compliment the work of Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho as both men gave a great promo full of passion. You felt the severity of Jericho's actions and you now really want to see their match on PPV, something not always the case with WWE.

It was by no means a blow-away show. CM Punk vs. JBL was only average, and these two are main eventers who need to deliver. Mike Adamle is starting to lose his luster as GM and needs to play a cockier, arrogant heel to stay interesting. A good offering from WWE, but it had its flaws.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • It is revealed during this episode that John Cena suffered a herniated disk in his neck during his match against Batista at Summerslam. He will require surgery and be out of action indefinitely.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • (after Cena's injury is announced)
Kane: You make it sound like such a tragedy. But pain can be beautiful.

    • Batista: I gotta say something about John Cena. Our match at Summerslam, by far one of the toughest matches of my career. We both came out banged up. John lives life by three words; hustle, loyalty, respect. I've never seen John back down, never. I have nothing but respect for John, so I want to wish him luck with his surgery, I hope he has a full recovery and comes back soon.
