  • Decent pay per view, nothing to special.

I enjoyed this one, good RAW pay per view.

    WWE Intercontinetal Championship

Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamen defeated Chris Jericho

Good match, Shelton had a lenghthy title reign.

    7/10

    World Tag Team Championships

The Hurricane and Rosey defeated World Tag Team Champions William Regal and Tajiri, La Resistance, The Heartthrobs, and Maven and Simon Dean to win the titles.

Boring, The Hurricane and Rosey are two very boring wrestlers with boring gimmicks, did'nt care who won. 4/10

Edge defeated Chris Benoit in a last man standing match

I like this one, Great end to the match when Edge hit Benoit in the back of the head with his briefcase. 8/10

    Kane defeated Viscera

Filler match, nothing speccial at all. 3/10

Hulk Hogan and Shawn Micheals defeated Muhamed Hassan and Kosrov Davari

Good to see the Hulkster back, him and HBK made a good tag team. 7.5/10

    World Heavyweight Championship

World Champion Batista defeated Triple H

Kind of a lackluster rematch, at the time Batista and HHH had a heated rivalry thought it would be a little better. 7/10

Good pay per view, better than Smackdown's pay per views.

  • Good PPV... Nothing special.

    WWE Backlash 2005

Shelton Benjamin beat Y2J to keep the IC title – Great match. Started off well with the chain wrestling, and then when it picked the pace it got even better. There were some great spots in the match, and Benjamin showed his true potential – He is definitely a star of the future. ****1/4

The Hurricane & Rosey wins the tag Titles in Tag Team Turmoil – Much, much better than the one from Armageddon 2003. Each match was enjoyable in its own way, but I think the earlier matches could have been better to let Regal strut his stuff a little more. **3/4

Edge defeated Chris Benoit – I haven’t seen too many last Man Standing Matches, so I don’t have any precedent, but it was a good match. It got a little slow in the middle, but it had a few good spots, and it picked up towards the end: entertaining match. ***1/2

Kane defeated Viscera – Thank god they kept it short. It was never going to be a great match; the two people in it, and the time given saved it. ¾*

Hulk Hogan & HBK defeated the Arab-American’s – The match itself was ok, nothing special. The crowd made this match, with both Hogan and Michael’s feeding off them well. I am not a long time wrestling fan, but still, even though I don’t like him, Hogan’s return is still something special. **

Batista retained the World title against Triple H – Far from a terrible match. It was a little too long, and there was way too much focus on Hunter hitting the pedigree, but otherwise it had some good spots; making it a decent match. **1/2

Therefore, WWE Backlash 2005, in my mind deserves **3/4 out of 5 for the great IC match, last man standing match, and the fact that the other matches weren’t terrible bad. I also think it’s worth a mention how stupid the American crowd was, chanting FOR Regal & Tajiri saying “USA, USA” and Christian’s segment was well done.moreless
