  • So, in a nutshell: Magneto's a moron, our favorite people nearly die, Mystique pretended to be Xavier, and the whole world knows about mutants. AND there's a giant robot involved. This is where the FUN begins.moreless

    9.0
This is my favorite of all of the finales. The first one was too focused on Scott and his troubles, the third was just way too narmy, particularly the end, and I have to admit that I've over-watched the fourth and last, so it's gotten old and I can nitpick every second of it.

But this one had sheer awesomeness. I finally figured out why Magneto saved Pietro from Asteroid X (he wasn't in the final scene with the Brotherhood in that episode, so Magneto MUST have saved him); not because he loves his son, but because he wants a spy! I never really liked Magneto. And Pietro annoys me.

I really disliked Gambit in this episode. Blowing up Rogue's hand while pretending to want to get close to her? Low blow, dude. Low blow.

And I always like Brotherhood and X-Men teaming up. So this was fun.moreless
  • Gambit! Sentinels! Pyro! Collosus! The mutants are exposed! The show is starting to pick up steam!

    9.0
X-Men Evolution finally takes things to the next level with the introduction of the Sentinels and Bolivar Trask. I liked how they divided up the heroes with different stories. The Brotherhood is even brought in to help stop Magneto from his next move. I didn't really like how Professor X was behaving in this episode- way out of character, but it's revealed to be Mystique so that's okay) But I did like Quicksilver's backstab, and Scarlet Witch's display of power. In fact, alot of the powers were used in cool and inventive ways.

Meanwhile Cyclops nearly quits the team, but ends up rescuing the younger kids before the mansion blows up.

But most importantly, GAMBIT has arrived!! Great cliffhangers! I remember thinking I can't wait to see where the show goes from here!moreless

  • The X-Men versus the Sentinel

    9.7
The new X-Men recruits, "the new X-Men", who were left back at the Institute by Xavier, together with Scott/Cyclops discover that the Institute is going to explode in 10 minutes and there's no way to exit the Institute.

Meanwhile, at the construction site, Quicksilver leaves the fighting to the others and reveals the fact that he still works for his "dear ol' dad", Magneto.

Magneto manages to lift the Sentinel from underground and make it fight the X-Men. He also moves news helicopters closer to the fight so that the entire world will see that the X-Men exist.

After a fierce fight, some memebers of the X-Men and the Brotherhood have been captured; the others retreat, as Xavier commands.

The Sentinel detects Magneto and attacks him. Magneto uses his powers to avoid the Sentinel, but when the Scarlet Witch appears and blocks Magneto's powers, the Sentinel falls on Magneto and explodes, apparently killing him.

The X-Men return to the Institute, where they find the place half-destroyed. Scott and the others have managed to escape by hiding in the Cerebro room.

Cyclops goes to Xavier and confronts him, saying that all that was his fault. Xavier is revealed to be Mystique and assures the X-Men that things are going to get worse.moreless
  • Magneto and the Acolytes attack! Gambit appears!

    10
An amazing episode! The best there is! I missed seeing Gambit! My favorite villain Pyro appeared and so did the mighty Colossus! It had great action and now the X-Mansion is gone, the X-Men and the New Mutatnts are homeless, Magneto might be dead, we finally see the unstoppable Sentinel, Sabretooth fights Beast(I\'ve always wanted to see that), Gambit and Rogue show first signs of romance, Professor Xavier is missing, Wolverine\'s being tested, and all this is only the end of season 2!

This is the best episode, The Acolytes are way cooler than the Brotherhood. Scarlet Witch rocks! Go Evolution!

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • After Magneto destroys the metal building and his Acolytes are sitting on the crates, the focus is on each one individually. When the focus is first on Gambit, his eyes are solid black. When it moves closer, they turn to normal brown eyes.

    • When Quicksliver backstabs everyone and runs off to Magneto you can see that he runs for only a second and then cut out of the shot in a choppy manner.

    • Before the red/blue Cyclops blast, Amara melts open a hole in the rock face to create an opening. However, before the hole is completely melted open (it is still growing and red hot), we see Scott first, then Tabitha, THEN Amara. In order for Scott and Tabitha to have gotten in front of Amara so quickly, they would have had to been directly in the path of Amara's blast!

    • At the part when Amara, Scott, and Tabitha have just got finished going up the stairs because the elevator wasn't working (right after Amara melted them into what Samantha called the "X Cave") and the guns start firing at them, they destroy the guns - look closely, you see a red blast destroy the 1st gun, which was obviously from Cyclops, then a blue blast destroy the 2nd gun, and an orange/yellow blast destroy the 3rd gun.....who shot the blue blast? The Orange/yellow blast could have come from either one of the girls, but the blue blast looked like Berserker's power...but he wasn't there, meaning this is a complete goof.

    • In the scene where Gambit hands Rogue the King of Hearts. The card is actually a King of Clubs, just with the heart in the corner.

    • Gambit's eyes look like a normal person's eyes but later in the series he gets the red and black eyes he has from the comics.

    • When Wanda is controlling Magneto he has no sleeves on his arms, and than he does.

  • QUOTES (5)

  • NOTES (1)

    • This episode along with "Shadow Dance," "Retreat," "HeX Factor," and "Day Of Reckoning Part 1" are available on the DVD X-Men Evolution: Mystique's Revenge.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Tabitha: Wow! So what do you call this? The X-cave?
Obvious referance to Batman's Batcave. This allusion is funny since X-Men (a Marvel Comic) is referencing Batman (a DC Comic).
