  • Not much to this one, except for a good ending that kick-starts the best plot of the series.

    7.5
On it's own, Mindbender doesn't seem like much, but in the overall scheme of things, it's an important episode that kicks off the beginnings of the show's best storyline. Jean disappears from the mansion and it turns out she's under mind control, stealing ancient rings for an unknown purpose. Kitty, Nightcrawler and Spyke are also under this influence. That's pretty much all there is to it. The New Mutants get to be immature and obnoxious some more, sneaking into the danger room to cause more trouble. The "Hey, there was a circus in town" reveal is awfully light, but the end of the episode is the real surprise.

The team pulls them from Mesmero's grip (the shadowy figure behind it all) but really he is only a puppet, too- working for Apocalypse!moreless

    • Jamie: (After others stumble out of the Danger Room burnt) So, still think it was cake?
      Bobby: You did this?!
      Ray: Let's get him!
      Jamie: (Running away) D'oh! Ahhhhh!!
      (Groaning as they get up.)
      Jubilee: We'll get him tomorrow.
      Bobby: Uh, yeah. Tomorrow's good.

    • Jamie: Hey guys, wait up! Nobody told me we were having a session down here.
Ray: Wow, what an oversight. Imagine that. Forget it, Multiple. You can't handle the Danger Room.
Jamie: No way! If you can, I can!
Jubilee: Sorry, Jamie. We're just more experienced at this stuff than you.
      Jamie: Ohh

    • Kitty: Oh, relax, Lance! I never said you guys kidnapped her. Sheesh! As if one of you hadn't tried it before.

    • Wolverine: (talking to Kitty whose mind is being controlled) Ah, twirp, ya know I could never hurt ya! (Kitty kicks him in the shin) Ow! This is why I don't like to play nice!

    • Kitty: Huh? How did we end up out here?
Logan: (rubbing his knee) Oh, sure, now you're better.

    • Rogue: (to the possessed Jean) Oh no, you don't. This ain't going to be easy on either of us. (She touches Jean's face, they struggle and Jean collapses) But mostly you.
