  • The Legendary Captain America cameos! But things aren't as exciting as they should be.

    7.5
My biggest issue with Operation Rebirth is that it's the exact same episode as Season 1's Grim Reminder. Literally, We have Wolverine heading off on a mission to another country, having flashbacks of his past, with 2 of the kids tagging along. Kurt's back, but this time Kitty is replaced by Rogue. Even Sabertooth is recycled to meet up with them once they arrive.

I appreciate the effort to make Captain America seem as mythic and legendary as possible, but unfortunately, he comes off as a generic boy-scout superhero, with nothing particularly interesting or developed from a character standpoint. There's plenty of action to be sure (as this is a cartoon for kids) but I just would have liked a little bit more.moreless
  • Wolverine and Captain America... A must see episode.

    9.3
When Magneto steals the Rebirth Chamber, a rejuvanating machine that keeps you young and strong, Nick Fury calls Wolverine for help.

Wolverine starts remembering his past, when he fought in World War II alongside Captain America, the super soldier. He takes Nightcrawler and Rogue along on the mission because he need their help. Once there, they fight Magneto, who defeats them, but spares their lifes, as Wolverine once saved his life when he was a kid, during the war.moreless

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • The plane that Captain America and Logan are dropped from that is supposed to be a cargo plane is a B-29 bomber. It was never used for cargo or in Europe during the war.

    • After Magneto pins Rogue against the wall, the arm with the bomb isn't visible behind the beam. Then her arm shows up and she manages to throw the bomb to Kurt.

    • When Rogue gets on the vehicle, her shield is up but when she turns to Wolverine, it's over her face. After the flashback when Wolverine puts on his shield, her shield is up again. Before they leave, she puts it on.

    • The shield Captain American has is not the shield he had during WWII, but the shield he has in the later comics that take place long after the war.

    • During WW2 Allied Troops did not know of the Nazi concentration camps until they began liberating them so it would be natural for Intelligence to assume that they were POW camps.

    • The installation that Wolverine and Captain America liberate in the flashback is described as a "POW camp". Since when does a POW camp include women and children? BS&P apparently didn't want them to say "concentration camp" on an animated series.

    • When the bully twitches Kurt's watch, he was wearing his usual clothes earlier, then when the watch fizzles out he is wearing his uniform. Many times Kurt does wear his regular clothes, even without his regular form.

    • When Magneto's "metal monster" restrains Wolverine, it leaves his arms free to move. However in subsequent scenes they suddenly end up pinned down along side his body.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Xavier: The percentage of the population possessing the X-gene is increasing exponentially. It's becoming difficult to keep track of them, even with Cerebro's recent enhancements.
Wolverine: No way mutants are going to be under wraps for much longer.

    • Nick Fury: Remember you were never here.
Wolverine: Yeah, I know the routine.

    • Kurt: (High-fiving Rogue) Yes! The fuzzy man is on the mission!
