Aired Saturday 9:30 AM Nov 09, 2002 on The WB

  • Trivia

    • Trivia: When Pyro lights up the bridge, you can see the same Bulldog Trucking truck on the bridge in which Rogue and Shadowcat hitched a ride in episode #34, "The Stuff of Villains".

    • When Wanda first realizes it is Toad she shoots him off the cable lift, there was no one else on the cart. But when it comes to a stop, there are a bunch of people on the cart with her.

    • Blob makes Quicksilver a sandwich/drink and brings it to him on a tray. He puts it on the coffee table in front of the couch. A bit later, Avalanche gets mad and causes a chair to fly through the window above Quicksilver's head. After the quake has died down completely, you can see the tray (with sandwich and glass) is still there. The glass did not spill in the quake. In the next scene (a wide shot of the room), the tray/sandwich/glass have all disappeared from the coffee table.

    • Kurt's girlfriend turns off his inducer near the beginning of the episode. When Kurt appears as Nightcrawler, the inducer is not shown on his wrist.

    • The cab driver that is driving Scarlet Witch near the beginning is wearing a shirt with flowers on it. When he gets out of the cab (Pyro lights the bridge on fire), the number and location of flowers has changed and the flowers appear larger. Furthermore, he drops his raised arm down in front of the shirt. As he does so, a pair of adjacent flowers becomes a single flower located between where the two were originally placed.

    • Toad used the image inducer to look like the blonde guy he named 'Eric.' In the end, he was disguised as Eric in order to kiss Wanda. When she realized it was him, she threw him to the ground. He isn't wearing the inducer when he hits the ground, nor for the rest of the scene. So where'd it go?

  • Quotes

    • Magneto: It's time we had a chat, father to daughter. Wanda, leaving you in that hospital was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. I know it must have been hard on you.
      Wanda: Save it.
Magneto: Please understand it was for your own good. I...
Wanda: You never cared about me! Only about yourself! I was just something else in your way.
Magneto: Wanda, I had hoped we could start building a new relationship.
      Wanda: Not in this lifetime.

    • Toad: Hey Nightcreeper!
Nightcrawler: You! You ruined my life, you bug-eating scab! Give me back my inducer!
Toad: Hah hah. Now I'm sensing some hostility here.

    • Kurt: OHHH.. somebody kick me.

    • Amanda: Kurt, you're early.
      Kurt: Okay, I'll leave...

    • Toad: Yeah, and I'm tired of being your TV anntenna!

    • Pietro: The only chance you have of joining Magneto's crew is if you prove you can work together as a team. That, my friends, takes leadership. Strong, decisive, fearless... (terrified) Wanda! Don't tell her I'm here!
(Quicksilver runs into the closet and Toad opens the door)
Toad: Baby-cakes! You've come back to me.
(Wanda pushes him aside and enters the house)
      Wanda: Where is he!?!
Toad: Pietro? Hiding in the closet.
(Wanda uses her powers to tear away the closet door)
Pietro: Thanks a lot, Wart boy!

    • Kurt: You! You ruined my life you slimy little scab!

    • Toad: I'm my own worse enemy.

    • Toad: Hey, I skipped this day in "Hero Class," okay?

    • Toad: (to Kurt) You're my main elf!

    • Toad: Ew! I touched soap!

    • Toad: Just tell me who I have to be to win your love.
      Wanda: Someone else.

    • Blob: And I'm getting sick of doing the cooking. You didn't even notice the radish roses!

  • Notes

    • The original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has the main focus in the story. The first ever Brotherhood were Magneto, Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Toad.

    • Listen closely for Amanda's mother's name. It's Margali (the name of Kurt's foster mother in the comics).

    • In the comics, Mastermind was a member of Magneto's first brotherhood.

    • Toad's theme (which we've seen in "Strategy X," "Middleverse," and "The Stuff of Villains") now has lyrics. You can hear them during Toad's first fight with Nightcrawler, and at the end when Toad heads back to Wanda.

    • Pietro appears to be watching "The Crocodile Hunter". The guy is getting bit by a snake when the camera cuts away.

    • Interesting how Kurt gets kicked out of Amanda's home. In the comics, Margali kicks him out because she thinks he killed Amanda's brother, Stefan on purpose. (Yes, she does have a brother.) Also in the comics Amanda's father was dead and she had a very strong relationship with her mom.

  • Allusions

    • Episode Title: The Toad, The Witch and The Wardrobe
The title of the episode is a reference to the novel "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", the second of C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia" books.

Chronologically, the books go: 1. The Magician's Nephew; 2. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe; 3. The Horse and His Boy; 4. Prince Caspian; 5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; 6. The Silver Chair; 7. The Last Battle. However, the books were not published in that order. For most people who read the books before 1990, the books were numbered in their published order: 1. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe; 2. Prince Caspian; 3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; 4. The Silver Chair; 5. The Horse and His Boy; 6. The Magician's Nephew; 7. The Last Battle. This is the traditional, but not chronological orer.

    • Toad: Hey, Nightcreeper.
Back in 1996, DC Comics & Marvel Comics had a huge 4-issue crossover. As a result, the companies created a short lived comic series called "Amalgam Comics" in which one superhero from each company was merged into one character [e.i. Superman + Captain America = Super Soldier]. One of the new heroes was Nightcreeper, a combination of Nightcrawler and DC's The Creeper.
