On tonight's all-new episode of X-Play, watch the "Sucker Punch Bentley-Off" as our very own Adam Sessler has a voice-off with "Bentley" of the Sly Cooper game series.
We also check out NHL 2K5. Though the 2004-05 NHL season may be on thin ice thanks to an impasse between hockey players and team owners over a new labor agreement, the beauty of sports video games is the guarantee that a league will take place no matter what happens in the “real” world. This season’s main attraction is not whether owners will lock out players, but whether NHL 2K5’s fan-friendly $20 price tag will lock out the competition. Developer Kush Games laces up the skates for its second hockey game on Xbox, and the end-result is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Another crowd pleaser is NASCAR -- America's most popular spectator sports. But, NASCAR hasn’t always received the best when it comes to video games. This year, perhaps because of increased attention due to the new Nextel Chase for the Cup system, EA Sports has gone the extra mile to deliver a game worthy of the sport’s legions of fans. Check out our review of NASCAR 2005 tonight.
There may not be any genre more fraught with tired clichés than the RPG genre, and it’s a little surprising that its fans haven’t been more demanding of original content. Seeing an opportunity, Atlus releases Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (Wow! that's a mouthful), an RPG unlike any you’re likely to have played.
And lastly, the original Blinx was an interesting concept marred by a lackluster execution, but Microsoft and developer, Artoon, decided to give this cool little cat and his buddies (and enemies) another shot. And frankly, we at X-Play approve. The vacuum-packing cat is back for another groove through space-time, with plenty of new moves and gameplay improvements in Blinx 2.
