Episode Summary

EDIT
Rushing to investigate a disturbance downtown, the X-Men find Sabretooth on the rampage again, but realize too late that it isn't really Sabretooth at all. It is the Phalanx, a voracious alien life-form that can assume the guise of anything or anyone. Before long, the X-Men are all captured, except for Beast, who must find a way to stop the alien horror from devouring the entire Earth.moreless

    • QUOTES (1)

      • (Referring to Sabertooth)
Wolverine: Fine, but if he's stayin, he gets me as a babysitter.
Xavier: I'd prefer it if you'd get some rest.
Wolverine: I'd prefer that too! But it ain't gonna happen!

    • NOTES (4)

      • Starting with this episode, all shows to premiere during season 5 featured a new opening credit sequence, taking bits of the old one, adding clips from previous seasons, and a slightly remixed theme song (with a heavier guitar score). Though, broadcasts in other countries used the old opening until the final 6 (see "Analysis" below).

      • Rogue is military pressing 65 tons in the gym, consistent with her strength in the comics.

      • The trucks have "Joe's Calamari" signs on the sides, another reference to executive producer Joseph Calamari.

      • Originally broadcasted as a one-hour special, back to back with its second part.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Star Trek: The Next Generation
The Phalanx itself is very similar to the Borg, an alien race from Star Trek. The Borg is a race of half biological, half mechanical organisms that roams through the galaxy, assimilating other races into their collective, always trying to reach their definition of "perfection".
