  • The return of Apocalypse?

    8.1
Cortez last seen betraying Magneto is serving Apocalypse since his rescue from Asteroid M. Cortez is basically trying to find a suitable mutant to serve as Apocalypse's vessel since his physical form must have been destroyed when all the psychics sent him away into the astral plane. Jubilee was captured and almost made into a 'sacrifice' until the last moment. Although the temple was on the verge of collapse, the decision to not help Cortez paved the way for Apocalypse's return. Cortez without another mutant to offer was 'rewarded' by being taken by Apocalypse as the vessel and Cortez was sent to the astral plane in his place.

Had this series not been canceled, it would've been very interesting to see what sort of problems Apocalypse would've been to the X-Men.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Beast: Nature has its own dark side: brutal, merciless, and mysterious.
Jubilee: Kind of like Wolverine before he's had his coffee.

  • NOTES (4)

    • Jubilee and Caliban never met in any other X-men episode prior to this one, however, it appears they know each other. In the comic book, Shadowcat is close friends with Caliban and they have the same relationship that Jubilee and Caliban shared in this episode.

    • With this appearance, Apocalypse is the only villian to appear in all five seasons of the series.

    • Apocalypse is animated differently in this episode. He is much more blue, has fangs, and horn-like things on his head.

    • The Hounds, aside from Caliban, are not referred to individually by name, nor are their identities apparent, but it seems that the one wielding the energy whip may be based on Senyaka, one of Magneto's Acolytes from the comic book series, who had an identical power.

The Closed Captioning on the Volume 5 DVD, identifies the female hound as Blade and the whip wielding hound as Whip.
