The original broadcast was a part of "Super Monday," celebrating the XXXV Super Bowl which had aired the day prior, and during which commentators Simms and Gumbel had hyped their upcoming appearance in the teaser. On January 27, 2001, Anthony Clark and Mike O'Malley hosted the CBS special, Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials. It opened with an amusing tinkered-with version of the 1980 'Mean' Joe Greene "Have a Coke and a Smile" spot -- declared the greatest Super Bowl commercial of all time in a national poll -- in which, through the magic of CGI, O'Malley replaces the child, played by Tom Okon, while lipsynching to Okon's voice.
