The episode ends with Greg and Kim reminiscing about Sammy with clips of him from previous episodes followed by a similar scene with Jimmy and Christine for Logan. Jimmy then says that he is confused. This is because while Sammy has been played by the Bain twins from the pilot on, Logan has been played by several different actors.
When Greg was putting the last hole alongside Dave Feherty, the ball seemed to be travelling towards the left of the hole. However, when the camera angled changed the ball went straight into the hole.
There's a jump cut right before Christine enters the house and says, "Okay, I turned the water off," with Kim's left arm changing position.
Another jump cut occurs before Greg enters the kitchen and says, "I've got my lucky tie on..." Christine's right hand goes from resting on the table to stirring her drink.
At the beginning of the episode it shows Big Jimmy measuring his arms and the left one is quite a bit longer than the right one. Later on in the episode, Big Jimmy is fencing with Greg's dad and he stabs him with the fencing pole which is in his right hand and he says "i got you with my longer arm".
When the gym set switches from fencing to Greco-Roman wrestling, the fencing scoring box is still on the back wall... as is one of the fencing vendor banners located behind Jerry Van Dyke during "some unfortunate news." During the brawl scene, one of the characters knocks over the flag stand, but in the next shot, it's standing up again. In the scene as actually choreographed and shot, the stuntman saved it from falling, stood it upright, and saluted, but that didn't make the final cut. Nor did the following part where they were throwing water bottles at each other. When Tim Conway originally fences in the short vignette sequence, only one of the moves he scores on is actually legal in fencing: the one where he's very close to his opponent, raises his weapon arm way up, and lands the point on his opponent's stomach. The move where he grabs his blade and the one where he goes under his leg are both illegal. The fencing strip wasn't even close to legal dimensions. It was 4 feet X 20 feet tops. An actual strip is approximately 6 feet X 60 feet. And the on-guard lines were too close as well -- approximately 16 feet apart. In a "dry" (non-electrically scored) competition, there would be 4 people aiding the director: 2 watching the target area of each fencer. The old fencer who originally faces Tim Conway has been fencing competitively for over 50 years, and has represented the United States at past Veteran's World Championships. If this had been a real bout, Conway would've never touched him.
When Jimmy starts the chainsaw, you hear a gas-powered saw, but it's clearly an electric chainsaw.
If you watched the previous episode, they showed the yard as dead and decaying. Jimmy could have fixed the grass just as easy, but in the episode before there was no lemon tree to speak of.
They conveniently switched the established side of the bed that Greg sleeps on for this episode's plot.
The master bathroom used to be where the balcony is located in this episode.
Another jump cut can be seen in the scene where Greg, Kim, Christine, Jimmy, Margaret and Joel are at the Warner house. After Margaret and Joel leave, Jimmy's hands are in his pockets in one shot. In the next, they're out of them.
In Greg's fantasy sequence with Margaret and Joel, there is a jump cut in regards to Shelley Long's arm position in the shot after she says the line, "I used to work in a bar." This isn't a part of the joke with the blatant jump cuts as things are added to the backyard, either.
Greg says that Bosses Day is October 16th. In 2005, that falls on a Sunday
During the begining, when Jimmy is playing the video game, he puts the phone down, and leans over once to say, "Uh-huh." In Christine's flashback, however, Jimmy leans over three times. Additionally, Christine's dialogue in the two scenes is different.
Greg says to Jimmy, "Look, uh, I'll keep her tied up in here while you go look on her desk for her to-do list." In Christine's flashback, she overhears on the intercom, "I'll keep in here while you go look on her desk for her to-do list."
In the first scene of Act I, Christine's shirt sleeves alternate between being rolled around her elbows and rolled around her forearms.
In "The Day of the Dolphin," it was stated they were in the Class of '86.
Jimmy and Christine's flashbacks show Sammy as an infant, but he was already a year old when they moved in.
In the flashback scene in which Jimmy bangs Sam's head, the shot of him carrying the real infant has Mike O'Malley holding the kid upright. In the next shot, the baby is cradle. Additionally, the recently-remodeled fireplace is seen, which did not exist during Sam's infancy.
There is a jump cut after Shulie Cowen says the line, "You know what? I don't care." Her hands are together in that shot. In the next shot, they are down by her sides.
