You Bet Your Life (1992)

Show Summary

Welcome to the 1992 edition of "You Bet Your Life" at TV Tome.

Comedian Bill Cosby made a 2nd attempt to bring back "You Bet Your Life" (previously hosted by Groucho Marx and Buddy Hackett) with this series. Each episode began with a black goose, dressed in a sweatshirt bearing the logo of Temple University (the alma mater of Bill Cosby), dropping down to reveal the secret word of the day. Any player who said the secret word was awarded $500.

After a humorous interview with the contestants, a Q-&-A game was played. The team began with $750 and could bet any part of their bank on the ability to answer a three-question-series in a category.

The team that scored the most returned at the episode's end to try for bonus money. Three cards were on a table. Two of the cards had pictures of "The Black Goose" and, if selected, allowed the players to play for double their winnings. The third card was worth $10,000 for each correct answer given.moreless
