  • It was so entertaining that I just couldn't tear my eyes away from my screen.

This episode exemplifies just why this show is so enthralling. The witty opening sequence, concerning a supposedly "cursed" ring bestowed onto the host Troy Stevens (played brilliantly by Paul Reubens), sets up a theme that's carried throughout the rest of the show. Even if people don't like the game show format, the episode's compelling to watch just to see Troy battle the curse's effects and the ninjas who're trying to take the ring away from him.

Not that this is anything like a typical game show anyway! Troy pokes fun at the contestants, whose interesting facts range from being able to fit fists into mouths and enjoying eavesdropping on other people's conversations; whilst the questions include "(what's) the best way of members of 'N Sync to make rust stains go 'Bye, Bye, Bye?'"

Arguably the biggest highlight, though, is the elimination round. A big deal is made out of the importance of the contestants being able to concentrate and for the audience not to make any noise - only for a marching band to waltz out and start blaring music over their shoulders when the countdown clock begins!

A fine episode which contained all of the features that made this show so great. If you're looking for a very entertaining half hour then I suggest you look no further!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • As part of a question in this episode, Paul Reubens (as host Troy Stevens) made a jibe at the expense of band 'N Sync, making a statement on the best way to get rid of the band. Later that year, Reubens would actually work with lead singer of 'N Sync Justin Timberlake on Elton John's music video "This Train Doesn't Stop There Anymore". (The two starred together as Elton John's manager and Elton John, respectively.)

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Troy Stevens: Contestants, please put your privacy panels in position. I'm not saying you're cheaters, but one of you is a car salesman.

    • Troy Stevens: We'll be right back with our elimination round. Someone will be eliminated - hopefully it won't be me!

    • Security Guard: But Mr Stevens, what if the ring is cursed?
Troy Stevens: Oh, come on! If you think I believe any of that mumbo-jumbo then you don't know jack!

    • Old Lady: Wear this ring - it will determine your fortune, your destiny!
Troy Stevens: Wow, thanks, creepy old hag!
