Episode Summary

  • A New Hero Introduced...

Love the inclusion of Superboy and his fight for freedom - his interaction with the other characters and the diverse perspectives of each hero makes for funny and unique dialogue. This series has shown that it won't fall flat, and I am looking forward to the next episode!
  • Getting Better

A female superhero has arrived although I wish there were more strong girls in this show. Hopefully, in season 2, there will be new members of Young Justice. I'm beginning to like this superhero show. Only this one has better looking characters, exciting plots...Oh! I said that inthe episode 1 review. Anyway, I don't care what the Teen Titans fans say bad things about this show. To me, Young Justice is gonna be epic.moreless
  • whAT?

This episode just left me wondering. My premier question was, what the HECK was the whole deal with the genomorphs? I haven't seen them anywhere in the DC universe and neither this episode nor the prior one did a very good job with explaining them. Why did the lead genome lure the heroes down into Cadmus and then allow Superboy to attack them if he wanted freedom for all? Did Cadmus create the genomorphs or are they just another species or something? This episode also carried with it some of the same problems from the first episode. It was good, but it wasn't as good as I expected from the names that I saw at the helm, especially Greg Weisman. And what was that whole thing at the end with all of the boys falling all over Miss Martian. She's not very good-looking in my opinion. This show definitely has some catching p to do if it wants to live up to the hype.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • From the shot where Martian Manhunter and Zatara were first seen arriving at the Cadmus building to the next, both characters swapped positions.

    • Just as the Cadmus building started collapsing, Blockbuster appeared to be electrocuted - even after Aqualad (who made the attack) had left. The chalk marks drawn by Robin and the water puddle from Aqualad have also disappeared.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Batman: Is that what I think it is?
Kid Flash: He doesn't like being called an "it".

    • Aqualad: Superboy! We're going to escape, not to bury ourselves here!
      Superboy: You want escape?!?

    • Kid Flash: What? What do you want? Quit staring. You're creeping me out!
Robin: Uh, K.F., how about we not tick off the guy who can fry us with a look.

    • Kid Flash: He can talk?
      Superboy: Yes. "He" can.
Kid Flash: Not like I said "it."

    • Superboy: I live because of Cadmus. It is my home!
Robin: Your home is a test tube. We can show you the sun.
Kid Flash: Uh, pretty sure it's after midnight. But we can show you the moon.

    • Mark Desmond: Activate the cloning process.
      Robin: Pass. Batcave's crowded enough.

    • Kid Flash: You here to help us or fry us?
Superboy: Huh. I don't seem to have heat vision, so I suppose helping is my only option.

    • (after freeing himself from handcuffs)
Robin: Finally. Lucky Batman isn't here. He'd have my head for taking so long.
Kid Flash: Seriously? That's what you're worried about? The whole League'll have our heads after tonight!

    • Robin: That guy is not whelmed. Not whelmed at all.
Kid Flash: What is it with you and this whelmed thing?

    • Superboy: Superman can fly. Why can't I fly?
Kid Flash: Don't know. But it looks like you can still leap tall buildings in a single bound. Still cool.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Kid Flash: It looks like you can still leap tall buildings in a single bound.
This is an allusion to the well known description of Superman's powers in the radio serials and Max Fleischer animated shorts of the 1940s, as well as the TV series of the 1950s. ("Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!")

    • Kid Flash: Come and get me, you Incredible Bulk!
This is referencing the Marvel comic book character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first appearing in The Incredible Hulk #1 (May 1962). Scientist Bruce Banner is exposed to gamma radiation and under emotional stress transforms into a super-strong green behemoth known as the Hulk. The character has gone through various incarnations over the years, spawned a live-action TV show and various animated shows, and feature movies.
