Season 1 Episode 1

Independence Day (1)

Aired Saturday 10:30 AM Nov 26, 2010 on Cartoon Network

  • Trivia

    • The elevator buttons, which were triangular-shaped at first, changed into round ones when Robin was reading information about the elevator.

    • During the fight between Superboy and the three heroes, the test chamber and a glass pillar beside it were damaged when Superboy and Kid Flash crashed into them respectively. However, both objects were later fixed back to their original shapes.

    • While Aqualad is making his way up the Cadmus building, the firefighter at the fire engine ladder appeared to be spraying water much below the building windows, hence the fire source itself.

    • When a scanning device was extended to scan the Justice League members, you can see that in the first shot, a wire is attached to the device. However, in the next shot, the wire disappears.

    • At the bird-eye view of Star City, you can see that the bridge is a two-way road. But just before Icicle attacked the bridge, all vehicles appear to be driving along the same direction from both sides.

    • Although Aqualad, Robin and Kid Flash were at the top level of the elevator at first, when Robin went up to it, there is a button to go "up."

    • As the Robin descends down the elevator, the level numbers on the elevator door do not match with those on its adjacent walls at the same level.

    • At the Hall of Justice library, you can see five sofas on its right wing. The number would change to three as Kid Flash, Robin and Aqualad take their seats, change to six as Speedy leaves the Hall, before reverting back to five after the Justice League members have left.

  • Quotes

    • The Flash: Stealing ice? Seriously? Isn't that a big cliché even for Captain Cold?

    • Aqualad: Glad we're all here.
Kid Flash: Have all four sidekicks ever been in the same place at the same time?
Speedy: Don't call us sidekicks. Not after today.
Kid Flash: Sorry. First time at the Hall. I'm a little overwhelmed.
Robin: You're overwhelmed, Freeze was underwhelmed; Why isn't anyone ever just whelmed? (they enter the Hall of Justice, seeing giant gold statues of the League) Oh. Maybe that's why.

    • Mr. Freeze: The Boy Wonder. The Bat sent you to drag me off to prison. Frankly, I'm underwhelmed.
Robin: Great, but I'm kinda in a hurry here.
Mr. Freeze: Kids. Always in such a rush. I prefer to preserve these moments... forever.
Robin: I'm not talking to you. (Batman swings in)

    • Male Tourist: Is that Batman?
Female Tourist: I see Flash and Flash Jr.
Male Tourist: Isn't his name Speedy?
Kid Tourist: No, Speedy's Green Arrow's sidekick.
Male Tourist: Well, that makes no sense.

    • Fireman: It's whats-his-name. Flash Boy!
Kid Flash: Kid Flash! Why is that so hard?

    • Robin: Okay, I'm officially whelmed.

    • Robin: I disabled the door, we're safe.
      Aqualad: We're trapped.

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • Guardian: Doc, these aren't your typical meddling kids.
Referencing the various Scooby Doo animated television series, starting with Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969). Typically, the villain at the end announces something along the lines of, "And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids!" Warner Brothers produces Scooby Doo, as well as Young Justice.
