Referencing H.G. Wells' novel The War of the Worlds (1898). The novel is told in the first-person and chronicles an attack by Martians upon Earth, using heat rays, poisonous gas, and toxic vegetation. In the end the Martians are defeated from within because their biologies are unable to withstand human viruses.
