No one said it was a generation really but just a decade has past.

You might be confusing what the term "Generation Jump" means. A "Generation Jump" occurs when a new season or spin-off series had several years past (It could be as early as 1 year) and the focus of the series and switched to a new main character. Here is a term run-down:

Timeline Skip - A new seaon or spin-off series is set in the furture but still has the main character from the last season/series as the main character. (Example: Ben 10)
Generation Jump - A new season or spin-off series is set in the future and has a new main character. (Example: Yu-Gi-Oh)
Dimension Hop - A new season or spin-off series is set in a new "reality" with a new main characters. (Example: Digimon starting with Season 3)
