Episode Summary

EDIT
As the first playoff duel rages, Yugi has been reduced to 300 life points while Mai's life points remain at an untouched 2000. With the Shadow of Eyes card luring Yugi's monsters into attack mode and the Mirror Wall then reducing their attack points, Yugi seems helpless against the power of Mai's Harpy Combo Team. Yugi still won't accept help from the spirit of the puzzle either. After some reassurance from his friends, Yugi trusts the spirit and together they think of a plan to defeat Mai.moreless

    • TRIVIA (6)

      • After playing Swords of Revealing Light, Yami thinks about using the Black Luster Ritual card. Suddenly his other self (Yugi) pops up in his mind asking "Black Luster Ritual? What's that?". However, it is his deck, so he should know what the card is.

      • This is the first time a duelist has surrendered, by placing his/her hand on top of their deck.

      • When Yugi uses Monster Reborn to revive Gaia the Fierce Knight, pay attention to his dueling console; it shows the Celtic Guardian on the field instead of Gaia the Fierce Knight.

      • After using Monster Recovery, and drawing five new cards, Yugi claims nothing in his hand would have been able to defeat Mai's Harpies. However he could have used the Monster Reborn he drew to revive either Dark Magician or Summoned Skull, which would have enough power to destroy her Harpies.

      • Yugi claims that Mai attacking his Catapult Turtle would've lost him the duel; however, Monster Recovery, the card that saves him the next turn, is a Quick-Play, meaning that Yugi could still save his Catapult Turtle and his Life Points.

      • When the scene cuts to Mai telling Joey that his victory over her wasn't luck, she has two "Shadow of Eyes" on her side of the field.
