Yugi's Grandpa refers to his being trapped in an ancient pyramid from his flashback in "The Wrath of Rebecca" in this episode.
Joey: (talking about Duke) I have more talent in my little pinky than he'll ever have.
Tristan: If you count talking with food in your mouth as talent.
Joey: Didn't you catch any of my moves in Duelist Kingdom you numb-skull?!
Tristan: Now you're adding "lucky" to your list of talents?
Joey: You're lucky I don't rearrange your face wise-guy!
Grandpa: I've endured many thing sin my life. I've been trapped in an ancient pyramid, stung by scorpions, attacked by Tibetan wolves, but nothing compares to this: A new game shop!
Yugi: (thinking) How can Duke be so calm? Either he has ice in his blood or he has one last trick up his sleeve.
Tea: He's toast.
Tristan: Burnt to a crisp.
Duke: I really hope you are second best not just second rate.
Joey: Second rate? Second rate! Your going to need a second life because when I get through with you Dukey there won't be any thing left.
Cheerleaders: Watch him bark! See that fool! Dog-boy Joey's not so cool!
Joey: C'mon, Yugi. You don't honestly think I'm going to loose to some guy with a dice stuck in his ear!
Cheerleaders: Duke! Duke! He's our man! If he can't do it, no one can!
Joey: I'm bad, you know it. I'm bad, I'll show it.
In the original version Joey tells Duke that when he beats him all the girl will be cheering for him, In the dub he also adds that Duke would have to close down his shop.
In the original version after Joey loses to Duke he thinks to himself that back in Duelist Kingdom he played beyond himself, but now if he was too proud. In the dub he just says that back at Duelist Kingdom he was dueling for his sister.
In the original version Duke says that he rented a dueling arena similar to Kaiba's, in the dub he said that it was his smallest one and he never mentions that he rented it.
In the manga, it was Duke's father who had a grudge against Yugi's grandfather because he lost a game to him for the Millennium Puzzle, and Duke also believes the Millennium Puzzle should have been his.
First appearance of Duke Devlin.
The Joey-Duke duel does not occur in the manga, they play a game with regular cards.
