It seems like Yugi's hope is lost as Kaiba has managed to created the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. However, as Yugi draws the card that could be his last, he begins to see a way out of defeat. Playing the Kuriboh, the weakest monster card in the game, he begins to multiply it with a magic card creating an unstoppable defense. Kaiba continues to attack but no attack will get past the regenerating Kuriboh. Yugi is finally winning, but Kaiba will do anything to win this duel, even risk his own life! • When Kaiba has Yugi on the ropes, Yugi uses a strategy with Kuriboh and Multiply to essentially win the duel. However, Kaiba is willing to risk dying in order to win the duel. Yugi calls off the game-winning attack in order to save Kaiba's life.moreless

This episode is a great episode because it shows that if you keep your head in the game and don't give up, you can still come back from anything. Even when Yugi seems to be down and out, he employs a brilliant strategy to lock down the Ultimate Dragon. When Kaiba realizes that he is no longer in a position to win, he decides to risk everything, playing on Yugi's sensitive side. This would be a touching scene, provided that Yugi was not in the same exact position that Kaiba was in. It is very sad when Yugi decides to call off the attack because, well, what else could he do? And Kaiba walks away without giving any type of consolation. That has to hurt. Definitely one of the more emotional episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh.moreless
  • Kaiba takes losing a duel to a new extreme.

Woah. Really deep episode. The part with Mokuba getting trapped inside the melting Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and the younger Kaiba shooting back at the actual Kaiba for not doing anything to help Mokuba...that was...wow. Then...ugh, Kaiba stands on the egde of the castle, practically saying that he'll commit suicide if Yami goes on with his attack. But Yugi, being the good guy that he is, stops Yami from attacking and spares Kaiba, falling onto his feet crying after he has the Celtic Guardian stop Then, Téa yells some mindless friendship dribble at Kaiba, and he walks away with Yugi's star chips.

    Man...what a great episode.moreless
  • So help me I'm going to kill Kaibutt and Peguas! That or do as I've been playing and sic Aziza on them!

This whole freakin duel didn't even need to happen at all! If Kaiba had just told Yugi the truth they all could've enter the castle together. They would easly overwhelme the card beside they played enough of Peguse sick little game they don't need to be puppets in his in vain attempt to get his love back form the grave! Kaibutt doesn't even care that Yugi is suffering now from so many differnt kinds of damge! Kaibutt has let his heart become coldstone and his humainty gone to the bowles of Hell. This is one time Tea is very cool. I"m so sick of ever duelist thinkign wining is everything and losing just isn't going to happen. Atem mind is dark as night but his mental refelx are still well intact. He used to winning and nothing imtamtes him. Now we got to wait six freaking episodes for Yugi and Atem to kiss and make up! This is so hard to watch! Though Yugi does eventual forgive him it still sucks that they even had this hellish duel that wasn't need it at all! If my OC Aziza was really she be doing a lot at that moment. Yugi be strong!moreless
  • Great!!!!!

Now in this episode it seems as Kaiba will win but then Yami draws a card which might help Yami win. He plays Kuriboh and the magic Multiply. He uses the living arrow to fuse Mammoth graveyard with Kaiba's Ultimate Dragon. The dragon starts decaying and each turn it would lose like 1200 attack points. Kaiba's ultimate dragon has 900 attack points now. Yami summons Celtic Guardian and is attacks one of the blue eyes heads but Kaiba backs away to the edge of the castle. He warns Yami that if he attacks the blast from the attack on Blue Eyes could knock him off the ledge. Kaiba uses reborn the monster to reborn a blue eyes head which is then at full power. Yugi's turn and Yami decides to attack. Celtic Guardian is like running and tea runs towards Yugi pleading him to stop. Celtic guardian is just about to attack but then Yami changes into yugi and yells for it to stop which Celtic guardian does. Kaiba attacks and wins. Yugi's on the floor crying while the others try to comfort him and well Tea kind of yells at Kaiba but Kaiba walks off. Pegasus is notified of Kaiba's victory. THE END!!! well this episode was great....I liked it..I thinks I'll give it a 10!!moreless
  • Kaiba snaps.

Some people get addicted to alcohol. Some to crack. Some people to something as harmless as coffee. But Seto Kaiba is addicted to Duel Monsters. It's finally official: his victory matters more to him than his life. People do a lot of desperate things on this show to win a duel: Noah puts Mokuba in between him and Kaiba's monsters, Weevil is a pathological cheater, Mai joins an evil cult and sells them her soul. But this is the most extreme threat or risk of any of them. No beating around the bush; however the powers-that-be that Americanize Yu-Gi-Oh try to cover it, it's clear that Kaiba's threatened, "Defeat me, and I'll jump!" You can never get that scene out of your head.moreless

    • Téa: (to Yugi) I'm sorry. Sorry about your grandpa. But you did the right thing. You couldn't hurt another person - not even to save him. (Yugi looks up) He wouldn't wanna be saved that way...
Kaiba: Then I guess he got what he wanted. If Yugi had done what needed to be done, he would be entering the castle - not me. But he was too weak to follow through on his play.
Téa: (jumps to her feet) He spared you!!
      Yugi: Huh?
      Joey: Huh?
Téa: Kaiba, he showed you compassion! Which is more then you deserve.
      Kaiba: He lost the game.
Téa: The game?! Yugi may've lost one lousy Duel Monster's game, but at least he hasn't lost his heart! - Not like you, Seto Kaiba! You spend so much time with your machines, you've forgotten what being human is about! (Kaiba growls) Yugi has a heart, Kaiba. Yugi has us. Friends that'll stand with him 'til the end, no matter whether he wins or loses some lousy game. And what do you have, Seto Kaiba? What do you have at the end of the day!? Tell me! Tell me!
Kaiba: I have all that I need. (walks away)

    • Bandit Keith: What's goin' on here? That punk Yugi could've won the game, but he threw it away to Kaiba. Whoever heard of a duelist doing that!?
      Joey, Tristan, and Bakura: Yugi!

    • Pegasus: Good job, Kaiba boy. As you wished, I will be your next opponent. But little Yugi didn't fare nearly so well in this rematch between the two of you. His spirit is broken. Hmm... And his grandfather's soul remains... mine! (laughs)

  • NOTES (2)

    • Kids' WB! used the promo title "Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon" for this episode.

    • In the dubbed version, Kaiba said that the blast would knock him off the edge of the the castle, but in the original Japanese version Kaiba threatened to jump off if Yugi ordered the attack.
