Episode Summary

EDIT
Just as the duel between Joey and Bandit Keith is about to begin, Joey realizes that he doesn't have his qualification card. The referee gives Joey five minutes to find the card. Joey searches his room for it, but, of course, he can't find the card because Keith stole it. Just as Joey's about to give up, Mai appears and gives Joey her qualification card, as he needs it more than she does. Joey returns to the area, and Bandit Keith wonders how Joey got the card. Keith starts of the duel by placing a monster facedown. Joey does the same. Keith flips face-up his Pendulum Machine. When Joey attacks with a Magic Attack, it doesn't work. Keith begins his rampage and Joey is helpless!moreless

Well I have seen this episode many times both parts one and two are great. Bandit Keith has a very clear advantage in the first part of the duel, though Joey gradually changes things around. The action of this duel was very entertaining, and Bandit Keith is a great character for the series. He is a tough guy with attitude something many characters lack in newer cartoons. I enjoyed how Joey used some good combos to wear down Keith's arsenal, but the voice acting is what really makes the episode and the show itself great whether it is the American or Japanese version of the show.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Bandit Keith says that all of his Machine Monsters are resistant to Magic type Attacks. But Giltia the Dark Knight is a Warrior type Monster not a Spellcaster Monster.

    • Featured Duel: Joey vs. Bandit Keith

    • In the split shot of both Joey and Keith after Joey destroys Keith's Launcher Spider, if you look at the monster in defense mode next to Garoozis on Joey's side of the field, it's not Axe Raider, but Flame Swordsman, which was destroyed quite a few turns ago. In addition there is no Kunai with Chain in the magic/trap card zone.

    • In this episode it's revealed that Machine Monsters are immune to all Magic Attacks. Yet in "Double Trouble Duel (2)" Dark Magician was able to successfully destroy a machine monster with the Dark Magic Attack.

    • Giltia the Dark Knight is a fusion card, meaning Joey can not summon him without fusing two monsters.

    • Machine monsters are not resistant to magic.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Joey: I musta searched the entire castle. I can't believe it. After everything I've been through, after beating duelists with twice my experience, after getting past all of Pegasus' traps, I'm gonna get disqualified from this tournament 'cuz of this?! Over one lousy card!

    • Mai: Get up off the floor, Joey. And quit crying. You look like a big baby.
Joey: Who's crying? I... just got... something in my eye! Stupid thing won't come out!

    • Keith: You should have seen the look on you face when you Flame Swordsman toasted himself!
      Joey: Grr...
      (later)
Joey: You should have seen the look on your face when Metal Zoa fell into the Spiked Chasm!
