  • Nice!

    Another good episode
  • Awesome

This episode was really good. Who Is Pegasus and what are his plans? What does he want? The duel was really good but kind of short. I hate how they put that timer on though and how Pegasus just talked was kind of boring but it was pretty good. Its awful that yugi's grandpa got kidnapped like that. IT was cool that Pegasus just seemed to taunt Yugi and how he used his mysterious powers to look into his mind. It seems that Yugi can't defeat Pegasus supernatural powers and he had to pay the price. Also we get a glimpse at Weevil and Rex and something tells me they will have a bigger role in the futuremoreless
  • And so all began..The cartoon maniac challenged a crazy-haired guy..who will be the winner? The episode is cool but still with not enough action. It was like throw us cold water when they cut the battle when the time expired.moreless

Joey learns how to play!! We got an idea for the rest freaky guys which will follow watching Rex Raptor and Wheevil Underwood dueling. And what comes next? Maximilion Pegasous a crazy cartoon addicted adult challenge Yugi Muto(aka Yami Yugi). After his win(aka cheat in the game) he takes the soul of his gradpa. Of course Yugi won't leave it like this! Because he has to save his grandpa and as long as he believes in the cards of the cards and blahblahblah he will stand ofr him.The duelists' kingdom starts. Hold your nerves for more freaky crazy guys and awesome battles!!!! Peace buddies.moreless
  • Another great episode!!!

Here comes another great episode of my favourite show!!! Yu-Gi-OH!!!!!!!!!!!In this episode...well....alot happened. Yami duelled Pegasus and he almost won but time ran out. Pegasus took away Yugi's grandpa's soul. Now Yugi decided to join the tournament to get his grandpa's soul back. Okay so this the entire point why yugi's at duelist kingdom dueling-He's trying to get his gramps's soul back. Before that though, Yugi's grandpa was trying to teach Joey Wheeler how to duel... And...well..this episode is great cuz it is in my favourite t.v show!! I LOVE all these episodes not only this won. I think each episode rocks!! GO Y-U-G-I-O-H!!!!!!! Gooooooooo Yu-Gi-Oh!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it!!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • Featured Duel: Pegasus vs. Yugi

    • In the beginning of the episode, when Joey is dueling Tea, at one point the jacket he's wearing changes from his school uniform, to his green one.

    • In the trading card game, the Dragon Capture Jar doesn't "Capture" monsters, it just forces them into defense mode.

    • In the Trading Card Game, Weevil's trap card, infinite dismissal, has nothing to do with paralyzing a monster as strong as rex's dinosaur, and insect armor with laser cannon, the card weevil uses to power up his insect, raises an insect's strength by 700 points.

    • Pegasus's name has been changed to Maximillion Pegasus from Pegasus J. Crawford, which is what his name is the Japanese episodes.

    • Series References:
In addition to the standard dubs and edits, 4Kids made two changes to this episode that added hints to what would happen later in the series.

Firstly, the poster that Solomon Moto is putting up when Joey and Yugi visit him was changed from the Japanese. While this was partly to remove the whole situation regarding Joey's participation in the advertised regional tournament, the poster they used in its place featured Harpie's Pet Dragon and Black Luster Soldier, the two key monsters used in Yugi's semi-final duel with Mai.

Second, a 'flashback' was added during Yugi's duel with Pegasus that was actually a 'flash forward' to the final duel of the saga.

    • Yami-Yugi calls the Dark Magician a Magic Card, when it's actually a monster.

    • Technically, Yami-Yugi should have been the winner of the duel, because he declared an attack on Pegasus before the time was up. It's just that the Summoned Skull has to charge before it attacks.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Joey: He plays a wimpy bug against a giant dinosaur? The place'll be covered in bug guts!

    • Joey: Bug-boy versus Dinosaur Breath? What kinda match is that? That should've been me in there!
Tèa: I know you've been training for weeks, but those guys are in another league. You're just not ready yet.
      Joey: Sure, rub it in.
Yugi: And on top of that, you're so tired you can't keep your eyes open.
      (Joey starts snoring)

    • Grandpa: Now, can you name the most powerful Duel Monster?
      Joey: Uhh...No.
Grandpa: Can you name the weakest?
      Joey: No...
Grandpa: You do know what a trap card is, don't you?
      Joey: Uhh...kinda...I-I have no idea.

    • Joey: Itsy-bitsy bugs against dueling dinosaurs? Raptor has got this one in the bag!

  • NOTES (5)

    • In the original version, the prize money was three million yen, not three million dollars. Three million yen is approximately $29,500 while $3 million is about 300,000,000 yen: an inflation on 4Kids' part.

    • In the manga, this was the beginning of the series known as "Yu-Gi-Oh: Duelist" in the American manga

    • In the manga Yugi's grandpa's soul was trapped inside the video tape, in the anime, he is trapped in a card. Also, in the manga Yugi could talk to his grandpa

    • First appearances of Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood.

    • In the manga, Pegasus was the third person Yugi met who possessed a Millennium Item (Millennium Eye). The first was Shadi (Millennium Key and Millennium Scale) and the second was Bakura (Millennium Ring)

    • Maximillion Pegasus
