Episode Summary

EDIT
Having heard somebody scream, Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Tea and Bakura run to see what has happened. Reaching a nearby dueling arena, they arrive just in time to see Mai's Harpy Lady Sisters be defeated in a duel. As Mai looks on in dismay, her opponent introduces himself as Panik, one of the Duelist Kingdom Eliminators. As Panik claims all of Mai's star chips, Mai warns the group to get away before Panik gets to them as well, but Yugi stands strong, challenging Panik to a duel to win back Mai's star chips. Mai tries to persuade Yugi not to duel Panik, unsure as to whether he would be able to win, but Panik seems eager to duel Yugi. Panik surrounds his side of the field and leaves Yugi confused, as Yugi cannot see any of his monsters.moreless

  • Kind of boring......

    7.0
Okayy..well...I didn't really like this episode a lot. It was kind of boring if you ask me. I didn't like Panik either. I mean he was such a cheat. Mai lost to Panik when the others arrived. The others find out who this guy is. Panik an elliminator duelist hired by Pegasus to elliminate duelists. Mai lost 8 starchips. Yami says he'll get them back and so they start duelling (Don't they get tired???) Mai tries to persuade Yami not to but he doesn't listen. In the arena his feet are trapped and bound to stop him from moving. Panik presses a button and flames burst out. They narrowly got him but didn't. when they start dueling things don't seem well for Yami. This arena is a source for night as in its a dark field. Since it is dark Yami can't attack since he cannot attack what he can't see. Yami gets Swords of revealing light and tells Panik that he'll defeat him in 5 turns. Panik summons reaper of the cards. He thinks that the card Yami put face down is Swords of revealing light but then finds outthat it was spellbinding circle after he attacked. Yami then gets ready to play swords of revealing light. Yami thinks he's gonna win but so does Panik...TO BE CONTINUED. Like I said this episode was kind of boring. I give it a 7.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Featured Duel: Yugi vs. Panik

    • The cards Panik had hidden under his Castle of Dark illusions are Barox, Dark Chimera, and King of Yamimakai.

    • When Yugi's Celtic Guardian was destroyed, the lifepoint count on Yugi's duel tower showed a loss of points, but if the guardian was defending, Yugi shouldn't have lost any points until his dragon stepped in.

    • In the TCG, Chaos Shield only gives monsters 300 defense points, not a shield.

    • In the TCG, Catapult Turtle doesn't give the monster it launches extra attack points, and the damage is done to the opponent's life points, not their monsters.

    • Panik used the Reaper of the Cards monster in order to destroy what he thought was Swords of Revealing Light. In the real life game, this would be impossible, as the Reaper of the Cards destroys only Trap cards, not a magic card like Swords of Revealing Light. In addition, Panik would have needed to Set the Reaper before using its effect, since its effect calls for it to be flipped face-up.

    • How come Castle Of Dark Illusions made it impossible to attack for Yugi? The real Castle of Dark Illusions doesn't do that!

  • QUOTES (2)

  • NOTES (3)

    • The anime skipped a scene from the manga where Mai arranges an encounter between Tea and Yugi. On that encounter, Tea confesses that she likes both Yugi's.

    • Althought the two-part version of this episode has never been aired in the USA, the complete version is available on the sixth volume of the VHS/DVD collection, "Evil Spirit of the Ring"

    • The American version of the two-part Yugi Vs. Panik duel was combined into one episode called "Panik Attack". All other countries received the epsiode in its two-part form.
