Episode Summary

EDIT
As night falls on the Duelist Kingdom, after learning who will they will be dueling the next day, everyone begins preparing for the coming day in different ways. While Mai tries to strengthen up her deck for her duel against Yugi, Joey drifts into a deep sleep about donuts. Tea, Bakura, and Tristan are searching around the dueling platforms, determined to find out how Pegasus defeated Kaiba so easily earlier that day. After finding a hole in the wall that pointed to the spot where Kaiba's cards had been, they head off to the tower, which lined up with the hole. Meanwhile, Yugi has found the three cards with his grandfather, Kaiba, and Mokuba's souls trapped inside. They warn him that he must unlock the secret of his millennium puzzle and defeat Pegasus. Tea, Bakura, and Tristan are caught by Pegasus, and sent to the shadow realm. But just before they are trapped forever, Bakura's dark Yami side returns, and erases everyone's minds and sends them back to the real world. Bandit Keith steals Joey's qualifying card and Yugi wakes up, realizing that it had all been a dream. But he knows that his grandfather was trying to tell him something in the dream, but he is unsure as to what the secret of the puzzle is, and he's running out of time.moreless

  • Giving me a reason to dislike Tristan. That hare-brained plan of his was never going to work!

    9.7
It had adventure and intrigue, plus Joey talkin' in his sleep (i.e. "GIGANTIC DONUT!" and "Hey! Leggo of that! That's my pizza..."). Yugi has a premonition dream, Mai sets her trap, Bandit Keith cheats once again.

The other three aren't so lucky. But it was funny how "Tristan, I'm scared" turns into "Tristan, that's not the rope that's my leg!" Technically, isn't Tea wearing shorts under her skirt or something in the dub? Yeah, and for future reference, don't let Tristan talk you into doing something involving scaling a tower while blindfolded and breaking and entering. What...an...idiot.moreless

    • Japanese/American difference: When Tea, Bakura, and Tristan are going to climb the tower, a scene is cut after Tristan tells Tea to go first. Tea blushes and tugs on her skirt, meaning that if she went first, both Tristan and Bakura could see up her skirt. That bit is cut from the dub.
Another part when the group is climbing up the tower is slightly edited. Bakura and Tristan end up blindfolding themselves so they won't see up Tea's skirt, but the parts that show both of them blindfolded, along with Bakura saying, "I'm scared" are cut.

    • In the shot of the table with all the food, cut from the dub is a wine bottle.

    • In the U.S. this episode was orginally treated as the Season 2 premiere.

    • This is the first time the photo of Cecelia appears. Her identity and the reason why the picture is in the castle will be revealed shortly.

    • In the manga Tristan wants to save Mokuba because Mokuba saved his life in Death-T (a themepark made by Kaiba to kill Yugi).

    • In the manga Yugi and his friends recognize a picture of Shadi in Pegasus' castle because he has already judged Yugi. While Bakura does not know who Shadi is, the Spirit of the Ring does.

    • In the manga Keith sneaks into Joey's room and steals the "Gold" award card. As he sneaks out, Yugi find him. Keith attacks him, but Joey wakes up and beats Keith up.
