Creating the Millennium Items released Zorc, the embodiment of all evil and darkness, but Aknadin managed to stop him with the Millennium Eye. A piece of Zorc's soul was transferred into each item, the largest in the Millennium Ring because it fell into its slot in the tablet, becoming the Evil Spirit who possessed Bakura and is now possessing the grave robber.
Unsurprisingly, Seto's background of rising up from poverty to greatness, relying solely on his own skill and talent, is very similar to Kaiba's.
In the Japanese version, creating the Millennium Items required a sacrifice of 99 human lives, meaning Aknadin killed everyone in the village instead of removing shadow creatures.
This episode contains the Pharoah's pursuit of Bakura through the streets of Egypt with Slifer the Sky Dragon that he saw in a vision in A Duel With Dartz (4).
Aknadin: (thinking to himself) My son deserves to be king, and mark my words, King he shall become!
