  • Bang!

    8.0
An exchange of attacks and quite a bit of ***erotic banter.

Karasu's another one of those villains you can't help but love to hate. He's confident in himself and his abilities, to the point of fault. Yoko takes over just in time and how. The Ojigi leaves Karasu running like a cockroach, to use Koto's words - just the right place for a cliffhanger.

    Entertaining, not the best, though.moreless
  • Kurama must hold his own until he can transform to Yoko...and then the real battle begins.

    10
Before he steps into the ring Kuwabara confronts Kurama about Suzuka's potion. Kurama tells him that he drank it 10 minutes ago & that through experiment he has discovered it takes time to take affect and that he can only stay in that form for 15 minutes. Kurama begins with "Petals & thorns", an attack where he releases razor sharp rose petals. He is just trying to defend long enough until he can transform into Yoko. Karasu displays that he can blow things up without touching them. He can also materialize things with his energy. He throws a bomb at Kurama but he changes to Yoko in time and is unharmed. Karasu creates little exploding invisible monsters that can follow their target (that is why Kurama had trouble), but Yoko destroys them with a plant he found in south America called the Ojeegi plant. It reacts to the smallest movement and then closes around its prey. Yoko creates a giant Ojeegi plant grown with demon energy, that can also shoot bolts of energy. Karasu tries blowing up one of the plants heads but fails and now....moreless
  • The Dark Tournament Finals are now beginning! Kurama vs. Karasu

    9.6
Kurama is ready to take on the psychopathic member of Team Toguro, Karasu in the Dark Tournament Finals. Kurama has been preparing for this fight and planning his strategies and readying himself to a fierce fight to the death. He has an already taken the potion that will help him transform into his much more powerful form, Yoko Kurama. Kurama uses his plants as a barrier to surround him in a beautiful defense. However, Karasu's bombs are many, destructive, and invisible! The question is can Kurama stall long enough to survive and transform? This is a really awesome fight...And it's personal!moreless
  • If only all of Kurama's battles were like this.

    8.0
Kurama tries fending off Karasu until the beast within awakens. He later finds out that he doesn't have to touch his target in order to blow them up. Kurama tries running depserately for his life, buying time in order for the medicine to take effect. But it seems too late now with Karasu throwing a giant dynamite. However, Yoko Kurama came just in time to bail Suichi out. The legendary thief bandit finally surfaces onto the world. He summons a large plant to cause him to be the predator rather than the prey as Suichi once was. The battle continues onto the next episode.

What I didn't like about this episode was that it was rather boring the first half, even though it was meant to. But it does get rather better once the white fox boy appears. Though I still hated how the movements of Karasu and Yoko Kurama were rather unfluid and slow. Whatever happened to the sweet and fluid movements in the Genkai and I forget his name, but he has blue hair fight?moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • In this episode, Karasu reveals that he has come from the Quest Class of demons. This is the only mention of this class in the entire series.

    • This episode marks the first time that Kurama's Rose Whip has ever been damaged or destroyed.

    • When you see the crowd of demons cheering, you'll notice that there's one demon with a peace sign on his forehead.

Response: If you look carefully, you can see the peace sign is upside down, it's reversed. And the reverse (or opposite) of peace is basically violence. Violence is what all those demons are there for.

    • During the fight you'll see that Bui is standing on Toguro's left and Sakyo is standing on his right. But when Karasu throws dynamite into the ring and we see a shot of the Toguro team, Sakyo is standing on Toguro's left and Bui is on his right.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Yoko Kurama: (smirks amusingly) The Ojigi responds to aggression, so it will be all the more vicious once you attack. You're going to have to come up with a smart way to kill it, or else... bang!

    • Yoko Kurama: (licking his wound) Creating a bomb from nothing takes talent. That caliber of power belongs to a superior class of demons, a class I consider to be very worthy. Worthy to fight... and worthy to die.

    • Yoko Kurama: An Ojigi plant is quite dangerous, regularly. And it is several times more lethal and more sensitive when grown under a demon's energy.

    • Karasu: You flatter me, but we are still not equals.
Yoko Kurama: Rest assured, Karasu, I wholly agree.

    • Karasu: I've found that there's no greater rush than taking the life of someone you care for. The intimacy that murderer and victim share is unparalleled, witnessing their soul separate itself from their body.

    • Karasu: (to Kurama) You know you can't stop me, but you continue to try all the same. That's what so appealing about you.

    • Karasu: You're either extremely brave, or extremely foolish. It's rare for anyone who has seen my capabilities to go through with fighting me. I'm curious to why you would subject yourself to this. Could it be something personal?
Kurama: Don't flatter yourself, Karasu. I'm here to defeat you. And by the way, I advise you not to underestimate me.

    • Koto: Folks, I guess you could say this tournament has been one heck of a roller coaster. And finally, finally we can get to the most awesome loop-de-loop part of the ride!

    • Yoko: I thought you'd know better to corner an animal like a fox Karasu, we have a tendency to show our teeth.

    • Yoko Kurama: Ever hear of Ojigi? It's a rare plant found only on Earth's South America. The Ojigi is extremely sensitive to movement, and if it senses any kind of vibration, it will quickly close its leaves around its prey.
Karasu: I have no interest in gardening.

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • When Yoko Kurama first appears, he throws a rose at Karasu. This action was probably influenced by Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon.
