  • Sensui is very powerful........

In this episode, Shinobu Sensui shows off his power....

With most of the hope lost, Yusuke must desperately fight Sensui in a battle that seemingly can not be won. Just when all seems lost, Koenma uses the Mafukan. Sensui is so strong that he actually breaks out of it! And craziest of all, Yusuke plans to make the ultimate sacrifice!

Overall, this episode is also a great action packed episode. This episode also shows just how strong Sensui is. I also just love the fact that Yusuke's opponent is so much stronger than him. This is a very good episode just like all the others.moreless
  • To think Koenma spent all those centuries pouring his spirit energy into it all this time.

Sensui does something unthinkable, and it's not powering up to 80% and turning your muscles into deformed shapes. He summons a power that far exceeds Demon or Spirit energy. It's a power that not even Genkai could have even touched upon...Sacred energy. A golden aura surrounds Sensui, destroying the walls and ceilings surrounding him. When Yusuke tries going on the offensive, Shinobu doesn't feel a thing, and simply breaks his arm as if it were breaking a twig. Koenma then unleashes his Mafuken, which nearly seals Shinobu up for good. But despite that, his Sacred energy was too much, causing centuries of sucking on his pacifier, gone to waste. Even Heia, who's usually confident in this type of situation, is shocked at what Sensui has achieved. He's usually very cocky, but now he's being rather pessimistic, or maybe even realistic. Yusuke then says he has a plan up his sleeve, but it's the same one that Kuwabara did for him during the Dark Tournament.

What I liked about this sacred energy powerup over Toguro's powerup to 100% was that it really didn't take that long, and the concept revolving around it kept my interest. And it's even more surprising to see Heia shocked at the matter, which is something he usually doesn't do even if his opponent has him cornered. On the flip side, Koenma unleashing his Mafuken is one of those moments where you just want this plan to succeed. Not for the case that you're bored and you just want it over to be with, but you get rather emotionally involved. Sounds corny, but Yu Yu Hakusho is just that great of a show. Only few animes get me as emotinoally involved as this moment did. On a rather non serious note, what amused me about this episode is how Koenma unleashed the Mafuken. He stood in the same stance Goku usually would when he fires his Kamehameha wave.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • This is one of the few times where we see that Hiei is afraid of someone even though he would never admit it. When Sensei was powering up you can see that Hiei was sweating.

    • According to Koenma, it takes someone 40 years to master Sacred Energy.

    • According to Hiei, it is rare for someone to reach S Class status even in Demon World.

    • In this episode and the next, you see a flashback to Kuwabara's 'death' scene from the end of the Dark Tournament. In the actual episode, Kuwabara said "Make my death count, Yusuke" but in these flashbacks, it changes to "Make my death count, okay?"

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Koenma: Shinobu! It's me.
      Yusuke: Shut up Koenma!
      Koenma: You don't have to.
Yusuke: I'm sorry, but... You don't have a clue what I have to do!

    • Yusuke: I know, we'll win. We are going to beat him, in the end.
Koenma: Yusuke? What on earth are you thinking?
Yusuke: I'm thinking I see now. I'm thinking, no, I know I'm close... To the world's best strategy, for kicking ass.
      Koenma: You're close?
Yusuke: And I'm thinking that Sensui's thinking he knows what I'm thinking, because he usually does, but there's just one thing I don't know. (To Sensui) Do you have... The stones, to pull off, what it is you're thinking you'd like to do to me. Or are you scared, that your little destiny's nothing but crap?

    • Yusuke: (As Sensui powers up) Spirit energy that makes my head hurt? That's new.

    • Hiei: (to Kuwabara) Your senses probably aren't sophisticated enough to know this, but Sensui's energy... is currently that of an S-Class apparition.
      Kuwabara: That's a lot, right?
Kurama: That's as strong as they get, and I think Sensui's been restraining himself as much as he possibly can. He broke Yusuke's arm with limited power. Delicately, as if snapping a twig.
Kuwabara: Shame on you, I still have faith!
Hiei: Well that makes sense. Faith's for the fools, but we've all been made fools here. We assumed we'd triumph, that... we'd be able to kill another arrogant enemy. We were arrogant this time, Sensui will kill us all.
