Zatoichi, also known as "The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi" is a 2003 Japanese movie about the iconic Japanese figure. It tells the story of an old blind man named Zatoichi (Shintaro Katsu) who survives off the meager pay he receives as a masseur. However, hidden behind his innocuous appearance lies a fierce Samurai warrior. While bound to the Bushido code, he wishes to live out the rest of his days free from strife. But when his village finds itself trapped in a fight between two warring Yakuza groups, which are led by two mysterious Geishas (Yuko Daike and Yui Natsukawa), he must once again take up his sword and defend the innocent. Veteran actor Shintari Katsu as the cult anti-hero Zatoichi truly brings the story to life; and the fighting with its graphic, limb chopping bloody violence is non-stop. Any fan of martial arts action or Japanese culture will find something to like about Zatoichi.
