      • The title refers to the game Blind Man's Bluff where one person is blindfolded and has to catch and identify another player. This refers to Zorro and the Alcalde's temporary blindness while the Alcalde was trying to catch Zorro. It could also refer to Zorro pretending (ie: bluffing) that he can see when he first confronts the Alcalde after his vision starts to go. This title is also used as a pun by Don Diego at the end of the story when Felipe asks him what the area with the poisoned stream is called and he says he would call it "Blind Man's Bluff" (ie: a piece of geography where one can go blind).
