After a bomb explodes an SUV that is carrying BAU members, the rest of the team fights to save their colleagues and to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the mayhem.
When Simon came to Los Angeles in 2003, his agent scheduled 45 meetings in a week that included three or four people in each meeting. He doesn't recall everyone he met, but he learned that pitching is everything. He also discovered that Hollywood loves confident, enthusiastic people.

Simon finds the research for Criminal Minds so disturbing that he won’t keep it in his house overnight. He leaves it in his car and brings it into his house in the morning.

Simon discussed the concept of relationships on Criminal Minds in an interview with Jacki Garfinkel (April 25, 2007), and explained he wanted to explore the characters, but not because they are running out of stories. He said learning about the characters must fit within the story.
