In 1995 and 2004 was nominated for SAG Awards. In 1995 she was nominated for "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries" for her project A Place for Annie. In 2004, Sissy was nominated for "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries" for Midwives. Also in 2004, Sissy was nominated for SAG Awards for her movie In The Bedroom. The categories were "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role" and "Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Theatrical Motion Picture". (edit) On December 13, 2007, Sissy Spacek was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the "Actress In A Leading Role - Mini-Series Or Television Movie" category for her performance in Pictures Of Hollis Woods.
(edit) Helen Mirren has said that she loves Sissy because "she always wears her hair the same and some black suit. I have great admiration for that". (edit) Even though Sissy was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her role in In the Bedroom, she has less on-screen time than Jennifer Connelly did in A Beautiful Mind, which she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for in the same year. Nathan Lee of the New York Times said that her appearance in the movie "can be explained only by some unfathomable deal with Satan". (edit)

Sissy: When I started out in independent films in the early 70s, we did everything for the love of art. It wasn't about money and stardom. That was what we were reacting against.
