  • In the opening scenes the blue team playing against the Smallville Crows is the Port Moody Blues, a Canadian high school football teams. edit »
  • When Clark and Chloe are discussing how to stop Mikhail, there is a partially-obscured poster on the wall behind Clark that reads in part "...favourite hot dogs". Although "favourite" is the correct spelling in most of the English-speaking world, in the United States the word is spelled "favorite". edit »
  • When Clark is in the barn throwing footballs through a tire, there are four footballs. He throws two then goes over to get a piece of kryptonite. When Clark returns there is only one sitting there. edit »
  • General Sam Lane gave his niece a signal jammer that's used on stealth fighters? Wouldn't that be considered a treasonous act since stealth fighters are still considered top secret by military standards? You can't just give away that type of technology without some form of repercussion. edit »
  • The final Championship game is being played at Smallville. States 99.9% of the time have their championship games played at a neutral site. edit »
  • Old Spice Red Zone appears on this episode: in Clark's locker, on a banner in the stadium, and mentioned as a sponsor over the loudspeaker. edit »
  • The Level 33.1 plotline was temporarily dropped after this episode by the producers because they felt that it didn't fit in with the show's targeted viewers, even though some scenes related to it were scripted and shot. It continued on in the Vengeance Chronicles - short episodes aired on the Internet and hosted by Chloe, and included on the season 5 DVD. Eventually it showed back up in Season 6. edit »
  • Mxyzptlk
In the comics, Mr. Mxyzptlk is an imp from the fifth dimension that likes to play practical jokes on Superman using magic. If Superman was able to trick the imp into saying or spelling his name backwards, Mr. Mxyzptlk would be banished back to his dimension. edit »
  • Mxyzptlk is pronounced here as "micks-ill-pittle-ick", rather than the 'accepted' pronunciation of "micks-yez-pittle-ick", as it is pronounced in other series featuring the character (specifically Lois & Clark... and Superman: The Animated Series). edit »
  • Music: "I'm All Gone" by Bosshouse, "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day, "I Believe" by Shiloh, "Reach For The Sky" by Social Distortion, "Fall Behind Me" by The Donnas and "Walk Idiot Walk" by The Hives. edit »
  • Jonathan: A bunch of 250-pound guys banging into each other on a football field is one thing, but getting hit by you is like getting run over by a freight train. It's a big difference, son! edit »
  • Chloe: So, are you the guy?
Mikail: I guess that depends on what you're looking for.
Chloe: Uh, Mikail Mc... Mixyl... put... lik?
Mikail: Micks-ill-pittle-ick. Let me guess, you want to buy a vowel? edit »
  • Clark: What I dont understand is how you get sucked into anything besides anonymous tips.
Chloe: Well, we all have our weaknesses I guess. Except for you, of course. edit »
  • Lex: Mikail, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that anything lost can be found again. edit »
  • Mikail: If you knew about my powers, why did you bet against me?
Lex: I didn't bet against you. I bet on Clark Kent. edit »
  • Lex: I didn't want Lana's relationship with Jason to earn her a scarlet letter around town.
The Scarlet Letter is a novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne where an adultress is forced to wear a scarlet letter for the duration of her life as a symbol of her punishment. edit »
  • Clark: I thought you'd be halfway back to the Village of the Damned by now...
Referencing the movie Village of the Damned, based on the novel The Midwich Cuckoos, about an English village where the children gain mysterious powers of the mind. Not much of a reference here - presumably the in-joke is to the fact that Christopher Reeve starred in the 1995 remake by John Carpenter. edit »
