I started out on Days Of Our Lives about a year or so before The Salem Strangler storyline! I'd watch with my mom, and my dad would get all upset that she let me watch. yet, we kept watching!

I love Doug & Julie and saw the beginnings of Bo and Hope, Patch & Kayla, Kim & Shane, Jack & Jenn, "Doc" and Roman- thanks to the Strangler, btw!

    What about you all?

Days of our Lives, when Carly found herself buried alive. Also around the same time I watched Young and the Restless, when Victor was presumed dead but really was on a blind woman's farm.

    hi all,
well I started out with Days of our Lives I think, I was 5 and am now 45, have been watching it on and off ever since, and it might have been a close tie with Dark Shadows. I watched that when it was first on too. Don't know who got me started probably got started on a sick day from school.
    Cheryl.

My first soap was General Hospital. I started watching it a few years ago when I noticed a really a cute guy in it(Jonathon Jackson) the guy who played Luke and Laura Spencer's son Lucky. But after he left the show I stopped watching it.

Do you still watch soaps, or did you stop altogether after JJ left?

My first was All My Children, I guess you could say that my mom got me into it because I've been watching it all my life. Next was General Hospital, in 1998 when my sister started watching it. Then Passions in 2000, also because my sister started watching it.

I can't barely I am admitting this when it was Day of Our Lives as well, when Marlena was buried alive by Stefano and Jack had to figure out what the hell happened.

That's from almost 13 years ago if I remember correctly.

I remember watching that arc until it was finished and then that's really it for me and soap operas. I grabbed an episode or two from 90210 and Melrose's Place, but obviously, soaps are not my cup of tea or expertise really.

My mom watched all the ABC soaps so I watched them with her, and I can remember General Hospital in black & white, when Jessie Brewer and Steve Hardy were the big catches on the show. But I really started watching when Laura was dating Scotty and Bobbie was doing anything possible to steal him away from her.

And, on All My Children, I can remember Erica married to her second husband, Phil Brendt.

On One Life To Live, I remember Vicki married to Joe Rielly and only having Kevin. This is when Dorian was living in Lanfair.

Yes, I've watched ABC's on and off for a very long time.

I remember "love of Life","Search for tomorrow","Edge of Night", "the Secret Storm".

I think "As the world turns" was my first soap.

Bob hughes was a little boy during the night time broadcast
but was a doctor with a scheming wife when I saw the daytime
    episodes.

That puzzled me at the time but I figured he just grew up fast.

ABC's soap lineup from 11am to around 3 or 4pm back in fall of 1973. I was new in USAF, 18 & broke in Montgomery, Alabama working shift work. Broke & 18 meant stuck in the dorm so TV became the medium. I can look back on all the retrospectives of AMC and remember most of the characters. Scary isn't it?

Days of our Lives because my mother watched it. I started watching when Sami shot the foreign guy (Franco? i forgot his name but I think that's right) and she went to death row. That got me hooked but the Shawn in a cage got me un-hooked and I quit watching.

I'm not a big soap fan, but sometimes I watch something called EastEnders, which I don't think is shown in the US. It's not great. First saw it when I was about 8.
