I'm A Little Bit CountryEpisode Number: 100 Season Num: 7 First Aired: Wednesday April 9, 2003 Prod Code: 701 |
After participating in a walk-out against the war in Iraq, Mr. Garrison tells the boys they have to write a report on the founding fathers. Cartman decides he's going to figure out a way to flashback to the past and learn all about history first hand.
| Writer: | Trey Parker |
| Director: | Trey Parker |
| Star: | Trey Parker (Voice of Stan Marsh; Eric Theodore Cartman; Herbert Garrison; Officer Barbrady; Terrance; Timmy; Ned Gerblanski; Satan; Randy Ma), Matt Stone (Voice of Kyle Broflovski; Kenny McKormick; Gerald Broflovski; Pip Pirrup; Jesus; Jimbo Kearn; Phillip; Saddam; Various Others), Isaac Hayes (Voice of Jerome "Chef" McElroy), Eliza Schneider (Voice of Mayor McDaniels; Liane Cartman; Mrs. McKormick; Wendy Testaburger; Shelly Marsh; Sharon Marsh; Various Others [ episode), Mona Marshall (Voice of Sheila Broflovski; Linda Stotch; Various Others [ episode 50+ ]) |
| Recurring Role: | John Hansen (V) (Voice of Mr. Slave), Kyle McCulloch (Voice of Unknown) |
| Guest Star: | Norman Lear (Voice of Benjamin Franklin) |
As Cartman is about to kill the messenger he hums the Dawson's Creek theme song "I Don't Wanna Wait" much in the same fashion as in the episode Trapper Keeper
(edit)
The song the boys sing about getting out of school is the same song they sing in the Pilot "Cartman gets an Anal Probe"
(edit)
This is the 100th episode aired, but according to the production codes, this was the 97th episode produced.
(edit)
"Cancelled", the original 100th episode (and the official 100th produced episode) wasn't chosen most likely because the episode was way too mild and calm. Plus it was finished the most out of the other 7 episodes in the run, so it was the first shown episode. Interestingly, this episode was the original 97th episode AND season premiere, but it wasn't quite finished, but most enough. Comedy Central most likely held it back for the 100th, so Matt and Trey (most likely) redid the ending to fit in the "100th Episode" thing. This is another advantage of the show's animation style to be redid quickly (about only a matter of a few days), so it can be up-to-date and current.
(edit)
Cartman: (singing)
Look at me, I'm back in time, in 1776.
With gaslight corners, cobblestone streets, and humble houses made of bricks.
What a special, magic time.
And it's all alive for me.
I'm so glad Stan and Kyle aren't here,
I hate those guys, seriously.
Seriously hate those guys...
Hate Stan and Kyleee... (edit) Kyle: Cartman? Cartman saved the day?
Stan: Can't be. (edit) Randy: The strength of this country is to do one thing and say another. (edit) Founding Fathers: RABBLE! RABBLE! RABBLE! RABBLE! (edit) Cartman: Wow! How very, very relevant. (edit)

Cartman uses a TiVo to flashback to 1776 (by recording the History Channel, and making it fall into the water with him). But the History Channel doesn't even show that much stuff on the Revolutionary War, it mostly shows things about WWII.
(edit)
At the end, when they're singing, Sally Struthers is seen, but in the same form as the one from "Starvin' Marvin", rather than her Jabba the Hutt-esque form from the later episode, "Starvin' Marvin in Space".
(edit)
The Eagle's head shown on the stage is facing the spears, which is actually backwards. The Eagle should be facing the olive branch, and looking away from the spears, symbolizing the desire of peace, but the readiness to fight. This plays into the pro-war group's stance of desiring war over peace. This doesn’t seem to be a goof, it's a subtle joke.
(edit)
After Cartman complains that he doesn't want to study, his book on the table switches places between scenes.
(edit)
When the "pro-war" (or "red-neck") side of town comes into Stan's house, their flags and signs go right through the wall above the door.
(edit)
TiVo:
The TV OH! system Cartman uses to travel back to 1776 is a play on the popular DVR system, Tivo. (edit) Fleetwood Mac/GNR:
Although the rock band's guitarist isn't named he resembles Slash of Guns N Roses. The band's drummer does the same, resembling Mick Fleetwood, of Fleetwood Mac. (edit) Slash:
In the rock band the guitarist wears a top hat and holds his guitar in a manner distinctly similar to Slash from the bands Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver. (edit) The Donnie and Marie Show:
The Donnie and Marie Show was a prime-time variety show that aired in the 1970's. They sang a lot of songs, and one of them was called "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock & Roll." (edit)
